Pup Champs

🔹 EXPECTATIONS: a logic/strategy game about dogs and football. 🔹 REALITY: a pathfinding game about cute dogs playing football. 🔶 Pup Champs is a logic and pathfinding game where a football coach dog finds some puppies playing football and takes them under his wing (leg?) to make them win the cup. You embody the coach, but directly control the pups individually as if you were playing tactics. 🔸 The game is grid-based, so the dogs move on a board. The are 4 doggies, each kicking the ball in a different way, and you are given a limited amount of moves per dog. So the 'real' goal of the game is to find the right sequence of moves (pathfinding) to bring the ball to the net. 🔸 Of course the pups don't just play by themselves, there are a variety of hazards on each level's field, including some rival players that will snatch the ball if falling onto the same position as our players. 🔸 The game's difficulty ranges from very easy to very hard, thanks to a fair amount of levels and a gentle difficulty curve. Thankfully, the hardest levels are separated from the main path, so you don't have to beat them to watch the comic story sequences in each of the 8 chapters. There are 3 levels available at any time, per chapter and difficulty path, so you can skip a level if proving too difficult. And if that isn't enough, there's also a clues system (added shortly after release). It's a gentle and family friendly game, but it's also challenging if you want it to be. 🔸 Pup Champs' art is great, as is its music and sound effects. With different control options (available on PC and mobile) it has everything that one could ask to a puzzle game, and one that I recommend to everyone (all ages and profile players). Another cute & cozy puzzle game from Afterburn! Having finished all the base and bonus levels without the hints, I conclude that I like this one better than their previous title, Railbound, because it requires much less trial-and-error (also fair to say it is easier in that regard). The Pup Champs experience is more like solving chess puzzles: most information can be inferred and retained in one's head statically due to the effect of most operations are locally-contained. In contrast, a small local change in Railbound, such as shortening or lengthening a part of the route, can have a drastic global effect due to the train order and the switches, which is hard to see without letting the trains run. One heuristic that has been quite effective for me in Pup Champs is to backtrack from the goal position. There are only one or two possibilities for most levels, and it gives you a lot of ideas of where every pup needs to be and in which direction they should face. Would also argue the bulldog is the MVP. Backpass is the best pass.

难，好难。最后一章基本放弃思考了。 这是一款中规中矩的游戏。不过很多关卡的解谜设计像是先确定答案再构建谜题，我更期待的是更具开放性的解谜体验，而不是现在这种单纯逆向推导解题步骤的感觉。 内置了步骤攻略，这一点很好。

강아지마다 걸음수, 슛 종류가 정해져 있고 난이도 적당합니다. 이동 방향, 행동 순서를 맞춰가며 답을 찾는 재미가 있습니다. 다 풀면 도전 과제 100% 달성됩니다. 마우스로 하면 드래그 조작이 갑갑할 수 있는데, 키보드 WASD, 스페이스 바를 활용하면 편합니다.
