To the devs that made a fantastic game, you solely are responsible for this.
I was hoping for something less sci fi than Ace Combat, but it turned out to just be an almost 1:1 copy of Ace Combat. Cool game regardless.
"Monarch misses a shot" still haunts me in my dreams
BETTER THAN DRUGS
Most fun I have had in a while. It's a relatively short game and it's super fun to play whenever you only have a few minutes to spare. My only issue with it is that the campaign ends with a lot of details undisclosed. What happened to the rest of Sicario, and what does the future of Cascadia look like. PLEASE MAKE PROJECT WINGMAN 2.
Project Wingman is not only a loving tribute to the milarcade game Ace Combat, but in many ways it does a lot of things better. So much better, in fact, that Project Aces and Bandai Namco surely took notice of this. And very similar to the recent AC game and its DLC, Project Wingman also has a DLC mission pack that arguably better than the main campaign itself. Ultimately, it is a complete package with a lot of content and while it lacks the high production value cutscenes of its contemporary, it has a strong visual identity that many will enjoy. The gameplay is fairly refined and exactly what you expect, although it does lack a lot of variety. Ultimately, even though a lot of people moan about the abundance of scripted, linear gimmicks in the last Ace Combat, they are there for a good reason: to provide variety to an otherwise monotonous gameplay loop. And while that gameplay loop is addicting and tickles all the right parts of the mind, Project Wingman definitely would have benefited more from its strict combat support and combat focus. But what is there, is very, very good, especially considering what they were working with. The writing is fairly above average and while it is hardly high brow, it feels like it conjures just as much from Neon Genesis Evangelion and STALKER as it does Ace Combat, putting it in a strangereal, alt-history of our very real continental world, it definitely has enough twists and surprises to engage players with its Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2-esque cutscenes. A game that has lots of sauce and meat to its bones despite what it is. Complete with a few engaging modes that will surely eat up more time than any of the story missions. AND it has VR support, honestly impressive what a small team with ambition and passion can do!
A fantastic game.
Fun, engaging Ace Combat style game, great story and twists, although if you fail, you have to restart the whole mission, I haven't found any checkpoints to resume from. Good selection of 'planes, renamed, obviously due to licencing, but easily identifiable, Much better with a flight stick setup. runs smooth and looks good, even on my GTX 1080 Ti work rig with an Intel i5 5600, So should also run on my Steam Deck, Highly recommended.
Great Indie Arcade-Sim, the story is kinda weird and hard to understand at some points, but the gameplay is AAA
