딸 키우기 어렵다! 재밌다! 즐겁다!
Took me a very long time to get into this game, but I finally got an ending tonight, and it's not bad. It's very weird to me that you can just spam the schedule for months at a time and go with it, but there's a lot less going on here than there was in PM2. It's really ALL about the schedule. You don't have to worry about changing her clothes to match the weather, you can't alter her diet to buff her stamina quickly at the expense of weight gain or vice versa (instead you put her in a class called Diet Center for roughly the same trade-off), you can't rub shoulders with the elite and gain their favor based on your stats to increase her reputation, and there's no errantry/adventuring at all, so... sure, have her fall into a mop bucket for 3 months, no one is going to stop you. It's incredibly difficult and seemingly random to perform jobs perfectly and get the essential bonus pay that comes with it, and I never once succeeded in winning a single festival during my playthrough. The festivals also happen at odd times -- instead of happening yearly, it seems like they happen every other year, with three different festivals happening on a biannual basis. This is despite the game telling me they're annual festivals, so I'm not quite sure what happened, there. I checked some guides after and apparently I was simply falling short of very basic stat thresholds... and there's an element of randomness that didn't feel nearly as present in PM2. According to other players, if I had reloaded, it's entirely possible I could have won a few of them, despite performing pretty poorly initially. Unfortunately, since my daughter was rarely able to perform a job perfectly (usually she messed up on a single day which was very annoying) and since I wasn't getting those sweet bags of festival cash, I never even once saw the traveling merchant throughout my first playthrough. The only reason I know he exists is that I cheesed it a bit with an earlier aborted playthrough, where I started with a lot more gold. I don't even know what he sells, though I'm sure some of it is pretty similar to previous games in the series. Stuff like... all the best items in the game. That I never even had a chance to SEE. There ARE some interesting elements that are new to the game. There's a rival for almost every class, now, and at a certain point the rivals can become real friends, upon which they'll give stat-raising gifts to your daughter on her birthday. Your daughter will also pilfer hundreds of gold from your coffers to give them gifts on their birthdays, but it's still a neat addition. I was even able to get a second rival, which I don't remember happening in PM2. It seemed like I had to do the classes a LOT to make these interactions happen, though, so I don't know how realistic it is to expect multiple friends in a single playthrough. Maybe two, or three if you consistently win festivals and don't have to work as often. I didn't notice the translation/localization being quite as disgustingly bad in this game as it was in PM2, but that might simply be because there seemed to be less text. It's still not good, but it didn't make me mad. I've also never played another translation of this game, so I had nothing to compare it to. There was one extremely annoying thing that happened where the center of a text bubble would be empty and the words would be crammed into the sides and illegible, but... what can ya do. All in all, I had fun. It's a charming game, despite feeling less complex and rewarding than it's predecessor. Yep, I successfully raised a mid-ranking government employee, despite her intelligence being ~250 and her charm and elegance being close to the maximum. On the other hand, my daughter spent the last two years of her life complaining INCESSANTLY about how big and bouncy her tits had become. And you can't put a price on that.
