It's obvious that the game was developed on a tight budget. I liked the atmosphere and the variety of weapons. An interesting soundtrack and surrealism of what's happening on the screen create an interesting vibe. 14 minutes were enough for me to get an interesting experience.
어... 내 취향은 아님
So – I invested a little less than an hour's worth of extremely casual play into this game. And in that short amount of time, I really do feel like I squeezed pretty much all the fun out of it that could be had. I can only summarize it as a fairly jank experience, in every regard. But, would I ever play it again? To put it simply: nah. There's, in all honesty, far better horde shooters out there that can be played for free, and even more if you're willing to pay just a buck or so. And with that said, that's really all most people would ever need to know about this title. Going forward, I'm just gonna go ahead and dump my full thoughts on this, so you're probably gonna want to stop reading this review right about here. Anyways... here's the nitpicks. First off, the default control scheme is one of the roughest I've encountered in a while. Having to press "R" to run is one heck of a way to contort your fingers whenever necessary, Also, the functions to reload and buy things being bound to the same key is just bizarre. I really wish those were separated, 'cause holding a key to do something different with it isn't something you often find yourself doing in PC games. Not being able to change the FOV in a first person game is a cardinal sin no matter what, too. Other than that – the feel of the game is just overall rather bad, with the guns not having any real sense of feedback at all, and the melee having the shortest range and weakest feel of almost any game I've ever played. Also, the AI for the civilians you're supposed to protect eventually encourages you to gun most of them down before they even have the chance to become infected. I'm only bringing that up 'cause dunno if that was intentional or not, by the way – it's not really a negative against the game. Culling them was honestly simultaneously somewhat amusing, but also turned into yet another fairly boring chore pretty quickly. For full disclosure: I got to wave 21 in the woodlands map before I kinda just gave up and quit, 'cause the loop of this game unfortunately never really seems to change, outside of a few new enemy types being drip fed to you – all of whom just have the purpose of moving to and infecting your civilians a little faster than the last enemy type could, while being perhaps a little more bullet-spongey. Now, having said all that – this is a free game released almost five years ago, that I decided to play on a whim after it randomly popped into my discovery queue... so maybe I'm being too harsh. But, in any case, I really can't recommend this to anyone. It feels like the sort of game my friends and I would've put together over a couple weekends in high school, but without much charm to it (even the amateurish kind). More sound effects, visual flair, or goofy environmental details would help this one stand out a little more. But, as it is, it's one of the more forgettable games I've played in recent memory. I see the developer released a few more games within about a year of this one, which tells me that they definitely have (or at least had) an undeniably strong drive to create. I can only hope that they've developed their craft more since they made this, and that they're doing well.
