Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
Wow, this is bad... imagine Magic The Gathering, but make it stupidly shallow, remove most of the abilities, drop it down to less than 200 cards, and remove all deck building aspects. Also remember you can play MTG for free (to some extent) and they seriously put an up front price on this dumpster fire. I wonder why nobody plays it? "Pick a Hero" is a failed PvP game. Why is it dead? It's time for a video game autopsy! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. The market for PvP games is crowded and the player base is limited. This game never reached "critical mass", didn't "go viral", and didn't offer anything to differentiate itself enough. Even with no upfront cost, it failed to appeal to gamers for several reasons. There is no real single player content here. The developer thought other players could replace actual storytelling and level design. That was a bad bet to make, and yeah, the developer lost. Hard. Without a player base or meaningful solo content (storytelling, narrative, you know, what makes games like GTA famous), the game has nothing to offer. Other players are not a substitute for doing the job of a developer and creating meaningful game content. I couldn't find this on the app stores, but for all intents and purposes this could have been a mobile app. We're here for best of breed PC gaming experiences, and this is about as far from that as you can get. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps. The graphics aren't great, really simple interface with laughably bad MS-Paint card art. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. This game is ancient, it's over 10 years old... it's heavily dated and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries. Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $2 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, the "free" price tag didn't help. This peaked at a handful of players and then immediately cratered. With a peak count of less than 50 gamers (out of over 130 million gamers and over 40 million daily logons), it’s safe to say the PC gaming community has collectively decided to ignore this, probably because of the reasons supplied in this review. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
This is a fun game. If you're a fan of card battle games and you love draft play, but you don't want buy digital cards just to stray competitive, this is the game for you. This Card Game has no micro transactions :)

Used to be a sort of low numbers card game played mostly solo or hotseat. Using the old mana to contain how many cards can be played system. With many throwaway cards of dubious usefulness. In-game booster packs free of charge were a half decent idea but value was somewhat held back by the MS-Paint graphics and lack of real multiplayer. Given the free to play games that dominate this market it is hard to recommend. This is a genre of game in which having a living multiplayer community is pretty much a must. You are unlikely to find a good single player card game unless there are a lot of variation in unlockable, game modes, and the like. One example I can think of is Dead Man's Draw. But that is the exception rather than the rule. Not that it matters anyway since this game is dead as a doornail. Perhaps it will be patched, perhaps it would be possible to rollback to a beta version of the game. To be honest this is not worth the effort. Removed local content permanentl and hidden from library for declutter.
