Characters
Wendel
A loner, half by choice, half by necessity. Fundamentally a good guy, he's very pleasant if you take the effort to get to know him. The problem is he rarely makes that effort himself, and other people don't really have a reason to either. So all his life he's had very few close friends and even fewer girls.

Mira
A strong-willed girl. She doesn't see it herself, but people often call her a tomboy. She's always looking out for other people, even if it means a bunch of extra work for herself. Despite hardships, she does her best to stay cheerful.

Peach Tangle Recommended Length: Very Short (<5 hours) Number of Routes: 1 Choices: No Character Rating: Good Story Progression: Pretty Decent Scene Flow: Decent Music Rating: Decent Achievement Difficulty: 0 Additional Thoughts: A pretty decent free visual novel. The story is fairly simple but decent, although i feel like most of the second half of the story didnt work as well.

beaten in merely 8 minutes because of how boring the dialogue was at the start. Mira is like full-on lobotomized with how careless she is for EVERYTHING. just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dropped it with skipping unseen text. TWO H-scenes. thats all. not a singular choice in the entire game, not even the name.
This is another game where I wish that a neutral option was available. Anyway, let’s see how AhaNubis did with their first public project.
The Story
One day, Wendel finds himself in a forest. He has no idea where he is or how he ended up here. Luckily, he will not have to be alone as a girl named Mira is there when he wakes up. Now, they must try to survive in this forest together. Many questions arise, such as how they got there, what is going on, and why they can survive without needing to eat anything.
Positives
- The visuals. Apparently, the backgrounds are mixed with 2D hand-painted artworks. AhaNubis did a good job with this VN’s setting. The use of colors in the forest to demonstrate night or the sun setting was nice to look at too. Even the art in the start screen looks good. As for the models, I like how expressive Mira can be. Even Wendel can be expressive, with the few times that we see his model. As for the animations, all of them looked good with no noticeable oddities to them. - The section below will mostly consist of my feelings towards the plot, but it has some good moments too. I liked everything up until
Wendel and Mira kissed.
Before that moment, the story makes you care for Mira and sympathize with her situation. I could not imagine being in that forest alone for who knows how long. Mira does something completely unexpected early in the story, but I can get what the developer’s intention was in that scene. Another part that I liked is when Wendel was looking for Mira. I may have problems with how they became a couple, but I like how
Wendel’s desperation to find Mira
was told and shown through the visuals, colors, and text.
Negatives: The Length + Most of the Plot
How long you make your visual novel is a big deal. If your VN is too short, then the reader could feel that things are going too fast. Alternatively, they could say that more things could have been added to the story. If your VN is too long, then the reader could say that certain parts of the story dragged on for too long. If they get too bored, they may end up dropping the game. There is no true solution to this, as every VN needs a different amount of length to get their story across to the best of their ability. In the end, Peach Tangle ended up being too short. This VN’s Steam store page states that one of its features is 2-4 hours of reading time. You can imagine my surprise when I finished it in less than an hour and a half. The extra time I spent with this VN was to look at the visuals and listen to the music. Its short length really shows after looking back at the plot. It takes no time at all for Mira and Wendel to bond enough to the point that they
want to get intimate. I get that both of them do not have that many friends, but it is tough to believe that these two would be in love just from spending 2 days with each other.
Suddenly, the story takes an unexpected turn when
Mira goes missing.
Once Wendel finds something in the forest, the story takes an unexpected turn into the planet Jupiter. Why can Wendel and Mira survive in this forest without eating? Why have they not seen any animals or other people? You probably have a lot of guesses, but you will not be ready for what Peach Tangle throws at you next.
According to a new character named Freya, who communicates with Wendel from a tablet, it is now 70 years into the future on a planet that is 16 light-years away from Earth. She and many others are trying to prevent the annihilation of the human race because of an asteroid that will hit Earth in the year 3001. None of their plans to destroy it would work. As for Wendel and Mira, they died a long time ago. Both of their brains were put into cloned bodies since they had registered to have it donated to Alzheimer’s disease research. Their new bodies only need photosynthesis and water to survive.
…Yeah. That is a lot of information that was just dumped at the reader and Wendel all at once. Not too long after learning all of this, the story ends. Overall, this VN is alright. There are some good moments between Wendel and Mira. Also, the visuals and animations are good. I would love to see more of this developer’s work, thanks to those components alone. However, this VN’s short length just messed things up. Wendel and Mira became an item too quickly. Also, the story dumped a lot of information on me near the end before getting to the credits. If you have a few hours to spare in the day, then I would recommend Peach Tangle. It has nice visuals and animations. Plus, it is free. Originally posted on VNDB
