I'm not a platformer fan at all. Innocent fun, not nothing that has not been done before
10/10 Simple, quick and cosy.
This is a straightforward puzzle game that offers a decent challenge depending on your imagination and dexterity. While I’m not usually into this type of puzzle game, it provided some solid, cheap entertainment. The developer isn’t greedy—the game is priced very fairly, especially on sale. For what little I paid, I was pleasantly surprised!
⭐ 6.0 /10 Perhaps the definition of ‘cheap and cheerful’, although it can get a-bit irritating (and not so cheerful) in the more challenging levels
Table of Contents
What’s the game about? Category ratings ✔️ Pros ❌ Cons 📝 Additional Notes
What's the game about?
This is a platformer game where the task is to collect the star to progress to the next level, of which there are 24 in total. To do so, you must place different types of blocks, thereby ‘making’ the path (hence the name). Generally quite easy, but the latter stages can be a-bit infuriating (because every time you die, you have to restart from the very beginning)
📚 Part of a series of games?
☐ 🟡 Yes and it would be better if you played its predecessors to get a better sense of the story ☐ 🔵 Yes but you don’t need to play the others to get along with the story ☑ 🟢 No Does not seem to be part of a series of games
📗 Story
☑ ⚪ No story ☐ 🔴 To anyone out there: please blow my brains out! ☐ 🟠 Meh ☐ 🟡 Good ☐ 🔵 Very good ☐ 🟢 Can’t stop thinking about it even after completing it No backstory or anything…just a blue character wanting to collect the star at the end of a level
⏱️ Time to complete
☑ 0-5 hours ☐ 5-15 hours ☐ 15-30 hours ☐ 30-50 hours ☐ >50 hours ☐ ∞ (there’s no real ending...) I completed 20 our of 24 levels in about half an hour, and I wasn’t really trying too hard…so this is quite a short game
🔁 Grinding
☐ 🔴 This game is the reason that I no longer have a life (well...ok...there may be other factors...but it’s one of the biggest ones. Promise.) ☐ 🟠 Necessary for progression ☑ 🟡 Only necessary for leaderboards/achievements/completionists ☐ 🔵 Moderate ☐ 🟢 What’s “grinding”? No grinding, but there are leaderboards for each level based on time. Only 24 achievements (one for each level passed).
🐞 Bugs
☐ 🔴 Call the exterminator ☐ 🟠 May get annoying ☐ 🟡 A few here and there but usually not game-breaking ☑ 🟢 As clean as a whistle Did not encounter any issues, except at one point where the edge of a block got stuck on another block (I don’t think it was intentional behaviour). I also noticed that the time on the leaderboard can differ slightly to the time in the level selection screen, but not a big issue.
🌐 Internet required?
☐ 🔴 Yes – both to play and save game ☐ 🟠 Yes – only to play ☐ 🟠 Yes – only to save ☑ 🟢 No Simple game that doesn’t require internet except to see leaderboards and save your time.
📊 How does it compare to similar games?
☐ 🔴 Outright disappointing ☐ 🟠 Below par ☑ 🟡 Average ☐ 🔵 Better than most ☐ 🟢 One of the very best I like that you have to complete the level, but otherwise fairly average.
💲 Price to pay
☐ 🔴 Would be better to just burn your money. Or better yet give it to me... ☐ 🟠 Maybe if you have some extra money to spend on a game and have nothing else to do ☐ 🟡 Worth it but only if on sale ☑ 🔵 Worth the full price ☐ 🟢 It’s free! A-bit borderline here; yes it’s very cheap, but then it’s quite a simple game and you’ll find similar ones for free
✔️ Pros
✔️ Quite cheap ✔️ Simple ✔️ Leaderboard introduces the element of challenges, to make you try and go that little bit quicker ✔️ You do have to think a-bit on how to place the blocks sometimes
❌ Cons
❌ You could find similar games for free ❌ Leaderboard only focuses on time; it could also consider, say, the number of blocks used ❌ Can be infuriating, since you restart from the beginning if you make a mistake. At least, you don’t have any lives to lose and you can start whichever level you like (without having to complete others first) ❌ Also, you cannot move blocks around once you place them…so even if you want to change one block, you have to restart the level and re-do all the other blocks. That said, I do understand why this is done (otherwise it would be too easy). ❌ Music can become annoying eventually…but you can turn this off ❌ Menu can be finicky (if you’re too quick with it) ❌ Not a small game (692 MB) given its relative simplicity, but I guess it’s not too bad compared to modern games
📝 Additional Notes
There are more Cons than Pros, but they're quite minor issues…the game plays well and can be a-bit challenging at times. Sometimes it was a-bit too challenging for me…but maybe it’s just not my kind of game (I don’t normally play platformers). While you could find platformers for free online (which are perhaps even longer), it’s still quite cheap and a decent effort overall. 评分:3.5/5 评测:一边搭路一边跑酷的游戏,非常有创意,可惜就是太短了。不过游戏的各种机关做的还是非常棒的,玩起来很有意思,很推荐游玩。
