A nice puzzle game with interesting mechanics. Well worth the already low asking price for a good challenge. Colourful puzzle game. Good to enjoy with some drinks.
This is a great puzzler with 1 major flaw and that is lack of the undo button. That is a must have feature and I must call that out . In terms of puzzle design and mechanics this is one of the best games I have ever played. I played many puzzlers and I always get to the same issue with most of them. Most of the puzzlers will show you new mechanics/characters, they use them for a certain number of levels and then they don't combine them at all or combine them in a casual way. Parcel has 6 characters with unique traits and throughout the game you will gradually learn how to use them. Each stage combines the characters towards the end and these levels can be very hard. Some levels where you have to combine 4 or 5 characters were a joy to solve. You have 2 types of levels, the first is the normal world and the second is some kind of TRON like cyber world, so 125 levels total but high quality in the majority of levels. Great puzzle design in general. There were some things I didn't like but nothing that can't be turned off. Music is not good and the game looks better when you set the graphics to low. These are of course subjective complaints, I like a clean look when I play puzzlers and the music was distracting and repetitive. The lack of UNDO button is a major flaw and the main reason why only 4.1 % of players finished this game. You have a quick save button but this helps only when you are on the right path because if you make a mistake and hit the quick save button you have to restart the entire level. It is better than nothing I guess but a stupid feature if you ask me. I saw some people saying that this is a sokoban like game in the reviews and I think this is far from truth. The game has sokoban elements of course but when you unlock all the characters you will see that this is an unique game that offers complex puzzles. Great and unique puzzler, really can't find more words to describe how much I like this game. The whole experience would've been almost perfect with UNDO button ;) Worth your time and money so if you like puzzlers this is a must play !
Well-designed puzzles suffer from persistent bugs, mediocre level design and tedious tutorials
Interesting game with various mechanics to puzzle around but oh what a slog it turns into... and to get all achievements you have to do one specific one first, else you gotta start over... me no like that part. I am dumb enough I had to check some videos where I got stuck, but if you are hardcore for solving puzzles and actually using your brain you might like this.
While I can see what the developers of Parcel are going for and the puzzles themselves are reasonably well-designed at a base level, the game is just very tedious to actually play. The goal is to get every character to the goal, while also fulfilling some specific character-specific goals, just as having to deliver boxes as the yellow character. Each character has their own abilities, like a magnet grip or being able to pick up boxes. In true Sokoban fashion you avoid lasers, move boxes and traverse the grids of the levels in the most optimal way. The problem with Parcel is that it doesn't take long to realize that the game is very tedious. For example, there is no undo function which is an absolute must for a puzzle game where you can actually make mistakes and then have to restart the entire level. But Parcel solves that by having a quicksave and quickload function...which is a terrible solution because I won't necessarily know if I am saving in a safe position or if I already messed up the entire puzzle. I have never seen a puzzle game of this nature with a quicksave / quickload - why not just give me an undo function? This leads to many restarts and some of the more complicated puzzles can waste tens of minutes before you realize you made a mistake and then you can't undo it. It makes no sense. Aside from that, the game is kind of interesting with the multiple characters and abilities but I can tell, even without finishing it, that it will eventually get way too complex to properly map out solutions. Couple that with no undo function and it sounds as fun as getting your teeth pulled. The game also has a few bugs with the collectible counts and text boxes, and issues explaining things - I sat in one puzzle for a good 15 minutes trying to not kill any robots for an optional collectible before I realized that I am in fact allowed to kill one of the two robots. I, of course, had to know that just from the icon for the collectible, which is the inverse of the icon that required me to kill all robots in the previous level... This game is frequently on sale for less than a dollar, but even so there are many more better puzzle and Sokoban games I would recommend over Parcel.
