"Paper Wizards" is a badly made, bug riddled tech demo that comes across as someone's unfinished homework assignment. It's a simple FPS arena shooter where you should some billboarded monster assets with far-too-high TTK... there's no balance or polish done here. That lack of polish comes out pretty quick when you see just how bug riddled and unstable the game is. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics aren't great, very basic 2d billboarded monster assets and low poly cartoony backdrops of very low quality. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher-quality alternatives on Steam.

game is buggy but shows promise.
the map doesnt work and the game closes randomly but otherwise its good
I cannot recommend this game - the fighting is really rough and the mana regeneration is trash. Don't waste time on this barren game
You start with only one means of damaging enemies, an AoE bomb-type spell. It takes three to four casts to kill an enemy with it at the start, and you can only cast it three times before you're out of mana. Regenerating mana to full takes about twenty seconds. Too much time spent waiting until you can have fun again.
dobre ale szybko się nudzi
