hi just wanna let you know a little about this game: just watch the youtube :) and you hate it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyNs9pYDrxs
You originally stated that you would only have cosmetic items in the premium shop, and would never monetize gameplay elements. But now... "A new Premium Storage Upgrade has been added to the Premium Store, available immediately." I will no longer be playing Palia or spending any of my money on your game if you're going to lie like that and disrespect your player base.

As of the latest update they have introduced premium paid storage. So i wanted to warn other people this game now has a major gameplay utility behind a paywall (P2W) despite this policy they published earlier: https://palia.com/news/palia-business-model : "Palia will be free-to-play Palia will monetize cosmetic items Palia will not monetize things you earn through gameplay You won’t need to buy loot boxes or get content through a rotating store We commit to being open and honest in communicating decisions or changes we make in this space." I will no longer recommend this game in good faith, if they feel they can get away with this it will only get worse from here on out, according to how it has turned out with other games.
Developers have proven that they are happy to go against their word to prioritize profits in a game that is quite frankly not well maintained and no longer respects its playerbase. Latest update with paid storage expansions is the final straw for me and hopefully for many others as well. Palia is a very resource heavy game, from crafting, cooking, quests, house building and even bounty boards you are required to hold onto so many items that with each update it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage storage. Devs know this to be true because of the simple fact it has been a voiced issues from many of players in the past so this new pay for storage model is completely egregious. Steam only shows 250+ hours under my account which is a poor reflection as I have been playing for a long while but only recently switched to steam as my primary launcher. Realistically it is probably more than over three times that amount but I've lost track at this point. I've been there through the ups and downs, the many bugs and glitches that halted my gameplay (and progression) to the very long span of time with no content updates so believe me when I say us loyal players have been more than understanding and patient. Paying for cosmetics in a free to play is something that is quite normal these days and even though Palia is one of the rather more expensive examples when it comes to money to in game currency ratio most of us were okay with spending a little here or there to support a game we loved and had such great hopes for. In all honesty I already started seeing a few red flags with the courier pets but knowing it could be unlocked in game gave me such relief only to now realize it may have been a huge backpedal on their part knowing if it was paid content they would have gotten such backlash at the time. Note to any new players wanting to experience Palia I will say this, I love this game and although it is free to play as of right now if the team continues to go in the direction of paid content (which is looking to be the case} I can no longer in good faith recommend this game to any new players.
0/10 I got all these bananas, but I have to pay to hold them.
The game is becoming pay-to-win. Every update introduces new bugs, and old ones don't get fixed. The only thing that reliably works is the microtransactions. And with each update comes new things to pay real money for. I was hesitant when it stopped being cosmetics - And licenses were introduced for real money to show off animals. And then with the mounts, you had to pay real money to be able to use half of them. Now with having to buy extra storage upgrades with real money, the devs have broken the promise to never charge money for anything beyond cosmetics. The new mounts that you have to pay real money for give buffs that are inaccessible if you are a free-to-play player. And they've increased the number of people per server (when there are already performance issues), only to announce that they will soon be adding "private servers" which you will also have to pay for. They are doing everything they can to squeeze money out of you. Don't get invested in this game. It isn't worth it anymore.
Initially promised to only monetize cosmetics, however the newest update has paywalled additional storage space. With concurrent players declining and the addition of new microtransactions, this is their attempt to squeeze out the last bit of revenue before putting this game on maintenance mode.
Game no longer stands what it used to preach for, so many contents are locked behind premium currency. To continue supporting the game left a bitter taste.
downvoting due to paid storage
cashgrab game that doesn't even let you dress for free, you have to pay 15/20€ for a decent outfit and they have +100 outfits in the game but none is free
