Let me preface this by saying that I REALLLLLYYY want to like this game, but there needs to be more quality of life updates. The clothes have improved since I first played, but there should be premium clothing u can buy with real money, and regular clothing you buy with in-game currency (think Infinity Nikki, Heartopia). As of now, everything has to be bought with REAL LIFE CURRENCY, and a lot of it is tacky and not worth $30-$40 for one outfit. Insane. I should also get a mount when I start. The map is disgustingly large to not have MORE teleport waypoints (Infinity Nikki, Genshin Impact, Palworld). It takes me 30minutes irl to cross from one side of one town to the other. THEY HAVE 3-4 TOWNS/REGIONS AT THIS POINT. Also, I should be able to glide and then latch on to something (like Genshin Impact), but I can't. You begin falling to the ground once you stop gliding. Fix that please. They don't communicate quests well, I feel I am allways Googling how to find/do things. I STILL don't know how to fulfill a player request. I have to look it up. Re-work the UI a little. This game has potential but needs more work. That said, I know they are still actively working on it and I hope to hear some positive changes. As of now, super unplayable if you have a life and not a major chud.

For a game so highly recommended, you would think male and female characters would have different animations, but no. Even if you choose the male character as your base, he has only animations specifically made for a female character. It looks uncanny, not in a funny way. He looks like he broke most of his bones or is posing for an OF ad. In first minutes i also encountered a glitch, the notification about "being a good neighbour" popped out 2 times, and since i didnt skip it the second time, the game crashed, hardlocking me since i didnt complete the character selection yet. The glitch caused a black screen and my pc having to be restarted (the game didnt want to close at all in the dark screen state) The game seems to be made specifically for girl players who play girl characters. Wouldnt really recommed it for anyone who prefers playing as a male character.
Seems like this game's honeymoon phase has ended. And quite fast actually. Patch 0.206 brings a pay walled game mechanic the Devs promised never to lock behind a pay wall. They said only cosmetics were going to be paid. It was ok while it lasted. I'm happy I did not invest too much time in this, I had hopes for this game though.
Decepcionado, pra mim, Palia morreu.
I played 500 hrs but in the end I am super disappointed in this game. It is riddled with bugs that were never fixed and the support is a joke. I encountered a bug that was reported about a year ago -- specifically the sacred flower did not drop for me from the wayback ogoopu hunt. I wrote to the support and all I received was a note saying that they are busy, they will get back to me when they can. Five days later their answer was -- oh, it is now 5 days, sorry. Do you still have the same problem? I said yes. Weeks later I am still waiting for resolution. I even asked on discord for help and I somebody gave me an advice to spend hour of my time to document and screenshot every spot that I visited to show that I did not missed any spot based on wiki. At the same time 2 other people people chimed in saying that they just encountered the same bug! So for 1 year the company is not capable to fix a quest that is btw. listed under main quest but they can come up with very clever and deceitful ways to make the game P2W. SHAME on you!
While Palia is cosy and relaxing, there are elements of the game that are frustrating if you play on keyboard and don't use a controller. Anything connected to planting and harvesting is horrible to manage when you have to move around to find the very small position in which you can harvest something. Also, switching between using the watering can and planting a seed is an uphill battle. The issue persists on the game map where you have to force an angle from which you can gather items on the map or mine an ore. It takes the cosy out of the game. The same with riding your horse. It's beyond frustrating when it's so hard to steer the mount while on keyboard. Did nobody test these things before launch? Or is it assumed that everybody has a controller. Additionally, the game is eye candy, with an incredible level of detail. However, until you get to adjust your settings to lower that level of detail, the game becomes unplayable during in game night time. And yet there is no info, no let's customise your experience and little in the form of tutorial. With the introduction of community projects, vast quantities of base items are needed. Let me introduce you to storage space. In this game, number of items, not stacks, are counted towards the total storage (save for decor) The base game, after a lot of grind to purchase each chest level, allows for 18000 items. In the base game, to manufacture various products you need a decent number of those items, so you do get to that limit quite fast. Now, with these community projects the number of raw, base materials needed has grown exponentially. The solution - storage expansion - is locked behind a paywall. So, in a game where mechanics are broken for professions and base game we get pay to play. Fantastic!
I have 730+ hours of play. I started a few years back when Palia had only a few npcs to interact with, but I had so much fun exploring the world and doing activities with other players. At this point, I have all the quests completed and most of the achievements done, but I kept coming back for enjoyable time. However, starting about a year ago, when this game became overpopular, something happened to the devs - they just stopped caring. Now all I see when logging in is a new expensive set of cosmetics or a paid path if you really want cool things, not trash. As many already said, instead of fixing insane amount of bugs, they just keep pushing new paid items or really stupid board bundles that you have to work hard for just to receive another portion of trash. I've been waiting so long for this game to get better, but it only got worse. Finally, I just uninstalled it. To be fair, I did purchase a lot of cosmetics in the beginning to support the devs since the game is free, but at this point, I regret each of the purchase.
They claimed they wanted it to be "non pay to win" and technically it isn't, but it is ''pay to play the game as it's supposed to be played''. They started slowly with horses, then moved to furniture, and now storage space. Who knows? Maybe in the future, they'll start charging real money for basic tools or items. Storage is a huge deal in this game. Before the "pay to get more storage" update, they used to give free storage space to all players with every major update (meaning a new map with new items). They would just bump up the limit, for example, from 5,000 to 7,000. Now, you have to spend real money if you want more space. Since every new map brings a flood of new items, I doubt they're going to keep giving out enough free storage to keep up. Players were asking like crazy for more storage, and with every new map, the devs would say, "We hear our players, so we're upgrading the storage." -_- They HAD! to upgrade it anyway because of the new maps and new items! These devs give off the exact same vibe as the old Overwatch devs: "Oh look, we hear you guys!" (if you played Overwatch back in the day). If you just want a simple game to relax and play without thinking much, you either have to pay real money for basic storage (or idk maybe basic mechanics in the future?) or find something else. And it's not cheap either for the price of extra storage, you could easily buy 2 or 3 other full games. I really liked the game and even spent money on skins A LOT of money (stupid me), because back then, it was genuinely fun, even as a solo player. But after all this? Nah, I will never support a free to play game with my money again. One more thing: even if you do spend money to buy skins and other items, expect to deal with bugs and glitches sometimes, and good luck dealing with their support team. From love to hate. Thanks Singularity 6, Palia WAS a good game.
This is far from a wholesome game. In my experience it intentionally fosters monumental amounts of greed, hatred, and delusion in pretty much all who play in order to get people to buy ingame items. It also cultivates profund levels of violence within your psyche by the endless simulation of slaughtering various animals for profit and no real workaround. It's chock full of manipulative design like the fact that you can't get rid of the quest overlay among dozens of others. It's a game that will actively cultivate less wholesomeness within your mind unless you're coming from a baseline of total depravity.
saying "it's still in beta" when someone complains about a gamebreaking glitches, while treating it like a full relased game with packs, microtransactions and being on every platform at this point isn't a great look. oh and it's been in "beta" for 3 years
