About
You play as a Monarch in possession of an ancient soul-stealing crown with magical abilities. With its power, establish a kingdom in a perilous wilderness and defend it from mutants and bandits roaming the land.
Build, gather resources, farm the land and more to turn your fledgling realm into a commanding, self-sustaining kingdom. As your fame grows, more will flock to your banner – but so will those who have come to overthrow you.
Construct a kingdom from scratch and transform the wilderness into a developed community. Decide which buildings go where, and then manage your citizens to automate everything from there! Don’t like where you placed something? Just pick it up and toss it somewhere else!
Throw whole trees at the sawmill to make planks or run through the forest carrying your sawmill to absorb trees along the way! Resource gathering is fun and easy thanks to your crown’s power. Or maybe you have too many enemies around. Pick up monster nests and place them near bandit camps to have them fight each other instead (and obtain free loot!).
Villagers being eaten by mutants? Run across a lake at 100 km/h to rescue them in time! Being shot at by outlaws up in the hills? Spin-attack so fast that you take off like a helicopter and descend on them from the skies!
Manage resources and stockpile enough food to last the winter. Guard your farmlands (and peasants) from hungry mutants while waiting for your crops to grow. Keep polluting workshops away or see the land turn barren. Ultimately, keep your people happy or see them desert you for the outlaws.
Overthrown can be played offline in single player, or with a group of up to six friends in online co-op!

The game looks fun and interesting but there is nothing to do. Me and my son were looking forward to this to play it together. We did everything in the world within an hour and just waited in the world for research to finish to hope that something happens in this game. This game has a content issue that is above and it also has a design issue. Research feels meaningless. You just select a few and wait and it completes and goes to the next one. You can't see what's unlocked or how the thing works when you do find it. There are loads of mechanics/buildings that are misleading in its description and no tutorial to how it works. The dev team even needed to put a post up to tell us how some things work. Its a mess. The dev team. This team desperately needs a designer that works on user experience and it needs work to make it worth playing for longer periods.
This game has bones of something that could be great and yet it's wasted on something that's only a shell of a game. Asking $25 for a game that has virtually no content?! The AI is broken, combat is poor, the systems in the game don't make sense and they want you to do things without explaining anything. The graphics are pretty and that's the only upside to the game! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. This game shouldn't be mixed or very negative it should be Overwhelmingly Negative because it's not fun at all and the fact it was in early access and they chose to ignore everything and release a 1.0 of nothing.
Absolutely not. The game used to be fun and chill... about 5 redesigns ago. So many hidden things and 0 explanation on pretty much anything. Completing a research actually takes information away from you. The endless ''why isnt this working'' is absurd. As a returning player, stuff has changed so much that without any guidance, im stuck in old knowledge that the game isnt trying to correct in any way. Waste of potential.
This game is not finished. My husband bought it for me as a gift so we could play together. The stability is awful, especially considering that it is not a demanding game on my system. In about 1.5 hours of playing the game crashed at least 4 times. Outside of that, the game feels incomplete, it's a bit bare, which wasn't a problem for me until it crashed every 15-20 minutes. After the third crash my husband said, "Well, you know, early access games." and I had to tell him it wasn't early access anymore and they had just had their 1.0 release. We kept playing for awhile and after continued stability issues we decided to get our money back.
The concept is novel, the fundamental game is solid, but the content is barebones and the stability is utterly lacking. The game is buggy and unoptimized. It is a shame the devs have seemingly rushed this through to 1.0 and are apparently dropping support for it because what's here really could have been something special but as it stands it is blatantly unfinished and does not deserve your money. Save your cash, buy something that actually works.
This games really really good, if you're self motivated. It's a city builder game like the sims, with your main objective to make the biggest kingdom that you can. But instead of being an all mighty mouse pointer in the sky, you're a very mighty king that runs around your city and places the buildings where you want on the ground, and help manage resources by yourself if your lil workers are coming up short. That's the major draw of the game. As a city builder, it clears the bar. You need to maintain everyone's sanity, food, gunpowder, and building resources. You get to make asthetically pleasing kingdoms. You don't even have to run around, you can build straight from the map for faster building. Then the people flood in, take on jobs, and follow their schedules day and night. Each one is named and individually tracked too which is a detail I really appreciate. As an action game, it runs well. You got a satisfying dash speed and the attacks are fun to pull off. It's fluid and responsive. Combat is very simplistic. Enemies always come in packs, and it's not hard to get true combo'd to death after your limited super armor breaks. It's probably intentional, to get you to use your army and artilery. Just know that anyone can and will kill you if you don't play it safe. This game really only has... maybe 1.5 actual problems. 1. Information. The game doesn't tell you alot of stuff. You don't get names and uses for resources, you get green arrows pointing up and down on them. I respect the game doesn't force you into a tutorial, but I really want a menu I can look into and hover a resource to know more about it. The devs had to put out a guide how to get fertilizer, one of the most baseline resources for your people to not starve, cuz it wasn't clear how to get enough of it. And while it would tell me my people were fighting, it wasn't always easy to fight where the fighting was happening in a larger kingdom. A little bit more menu polish would go a long way .5: Bugs. I had multiple small bugs plauge my game. Sometimes citizens couldn't do their job, they would just run at what their job thing was infinitely without interacting with it. I fell through the world twice. It would "return me to my kingdom" when I was still on land and not that far away from my town hall. Sometimes multiple times in a row. Enemies would sometimes ignore me to go clear across the map to attack something over a 1000 meters away, but only when I would attack them. All and all, if you want a ye old kingdom builder game with an action twist, this is it. Right here.
For the record, I played about ten hours over on game pass in a pre-1.0 state. This game is super half-baked. 1.0 dropped and didn't actually feel that different. Movement is clunky, combat is imprecise, the feedback you get from managing your town is vague at best, maps are featureless and boring, progression is slow, and overall it's just not very fun. There's definitely an idea here: an action RPG focused on town building. That's a cool idea. The execution here is not great, and while I will be watching just in case, I don't think this game will get much better post-"release." Happy to be wrong and will update this recommendation if my feelings change later on.
First off, the character movement is fantastic, the running. wall climbs, running on water is very fun. The progression tree is where the snag happens. You can finish it in roughly an hour and then have nothing left to do.
This game came included in a Humble Bundle. Played this game for 2 hours. Pros: Good Art Style Cons: Confusing Economy System with no in game tool tips for getting things to work or function. I want to play the game not scour forms or sites for how things work. Horrible NPC logic. As of March 26th 2026, they patched this. It did not work. I still have looping villagers trying to jump obstacles to tall for them. No real point in continuing to play as it lacks content. Research is pointless. Just a way to stall gameplay which is already lacking. For a game at full release, its very bare bones and lacks a massive amount of polish in user experience. I do not recommend this game at all. I see this feedback has been provided previously by many users, both in their positive and negative reviews. It seems to be largely ignored by the Devs.
