Overall, I do really enjoy many aspects of this game. However, there's so many times that it has crashed (losing season(s) of work or has corrupted my save also losing seasons of progress. It's way too buggy. I know many have moved on to 19, 20, 21, but I haven't and don't see why I should for full price. I also would like the Japanese leagues and others to have full logos and such without having to add those in myself everytime.
The game is truly fantastic! Really enjoy playing it. It has a lot of advantages: incredible simulation of management, a lot of different factors influencing the success of the team, fascinating realism (for example, you can be shocked how close are the demanded sums of the contact you are negotiating with your players to the amounts from the real life). Frankly speaking, this game made me study baseball and, as the result, fall in love with it - with its complex CBA, minor league system etc. However, there are some minuses. I can't say these drawbacks significantly decrease overall great impression the game made on me, but I think solving them will be the next step forward for making this game more challenging and remarkable. First of all, there is a problem with luxury tax. I have set different percentiles in order to make rich teams like Dodgers pay more though I was insuccessful. It looks like it doesn't work as you want. They can exceed it by a large amount and pay just a little bit. If we look at the real baseball, teams are very conscious in not exceeding the luxury tax cap (only under serious circumstances like signing Mookie Betts or Geerit Cole do they agree to this). Secondly, to my mind, the game is a little bit complex. Some people want to study baseball using the game but you have to do it yourself bacause here it is very difficult to find explanation (you need to address the manual which is not very comfortable). It prevents game from being international. Not every country in the world know baseball like in the USA whereas the game is truly interesting and can draw more attention if people understand what they are playing and what are the consequences of theis decisions. Not every player will be studying baseball like me to understand this, by all means, wonderful game. Thank you very much for this game. Waiting for fixing all the issues I've mentioned (espacially the first one because I've already solved the second one for me) and I'll be very glad to buy the new version.

As someone who has played 83 days worth of time on this game (a lot of time in the background while doing other things), i have the following recommendation. Year to year, these games do not change, but they are a baseball nerd's dream. Its a game of successes and flops, a game of millions of tiny moving parts. A couple of critiques; it is nigh impossible to manage the breath of a minor league system. In the end, handing it over to your assistant GM is the way to go, but that makes it hard to make sure to develop prospects at the correct rate to bring them up. Playing with a big-market team is like playing on easy-mode, just not worth it. Opposing GMs are really really unlikely to trade top prospects (However, i was able to aquire Vlad Jr. for Bubba thompson, Zach Deloach, and Dakota Chalmers, in late 2017). Honestly, the best you can do is find a team or situation that you find interesting, and build it to be your own. Managing finances is probably the most difficult part of the game if you play in a small-market. Of note, i play managing 2-3 games a week, simulating the remainder. I played my Mets into 2020 before i got bored, was too easy to get all the top FA, and dominate. I have since played my Oakland A's to 2028. Takes signing guys to 8 year deals before arbitration, and then trading them for new prospects before they get too expensive (which the fans hate). Going to play this one till my core trio of players retire (Vlad Jr., Cameron Bare (Ended up going to college in real life, i snagged him out of HS), and a game-made Ace), and then start again with a new team.
Most realistic baseball game I've ever played on a PC. The simulations are very fun to run as well. Keeps baseball fresh during the pandemic.
Good game for baseball fans. Apart from some minor unrealistic game play situations, the game is enjoyable and has some interesting challenges.
Very buggy and runs slow. I'd recommend Baseball Mogul over this series.
good
great game
Standard progression in the series for 'Out of the Park' fans to enjoy. This was a solid version and includes logos from MLB and MLBPA. IF you're new to OOTP, I recommend getting a newer version that it is still actively updated and supported.
even though it's just a fancy spreadsheet, it's still one of the best baseball games on steam. if you're the type to go to a baseball game and score it yourself, this will be an amazing time. if you love all the statistics, this game is fantastic. if you're a casual sports fan that wants to see some homers... maybe find something else. but this is definitely the best mlb product on steam until they finally port mlb the show to steam (pleasepleaseplease)
