The Eternal Punishment?... lol yeah I guess so. Still enjoyed the 5 mins or so for what it is. Has the very base down to make a game out of this.

The game makes it's self out as almost fast paced this game is not fast paced weapons are slow and can feel tedious level design is slightly weird but there is potential if movement has some faster option and enemies are no longer tanks that deal no damage
Overview:
'Orion: The Eternal Punishment' is a short first person shooter where you play as "Orion", a giant with a natural talent at hunting. After impressing and wooing the goddess of the hunt "Artemis", his enemies became jealous of the praise he got and teamed up to murder him. Following his unfortunate death, Orion pleaded to the constellations to turn him into one of them to which they (for some reason) agreed. However there was a condition and that condition was that Orion would be tasked with an eternal mission to seek out and destroy every star that had been corrupted by the touch of the darkness of the void. Whatever that means is beyond me but it doesn't seem to follow any sort of Greek lore as far as I'm concerned but even I myself am not up to speed when it comes to the history of Greece and it's gods/goddesses.
Gameplay:
Putting the rather bland and frankly weak story aside, 'Orion: The Eternal Punishment' sure doesn't feel like a game with a connection to Greek mythology. It just feels and looks like any other bad first person shooter and it definitely plays the part. You basically run somewhat blindly through a rocky valley with an odd purple hue while humanoid creatures which are presumably the "corrupted stars" try to kill you. I suppose this is one way to depict what the story was trying to tell the player from a visual standpoint but man is it done poorly. Your objective is to basically kill all the enemies throughout the map (or not since it honestly doesn't matter nor does it follow the game's plot in any way) and find a circular ring that unlocks the door to the end of the game. Navigating the map itself is already confusing as the game doesn't give you a clear path of where to go. You're kind of meant to just explore and find things yourself which is fine if done right, but many areas seem unreachable simply because the tool you use to manoeuvre around can't reach. Speaking of tools, you have from what I know 5 items that can help you beat the game. A crossbow that acts as your main weapon that shoots laughably slow projectiles and a blunderbuss as a secondary weapon meant for crowd control but does an extremely poor job at that. Long story short, you don't have very contemporary weapons. There are also potions scattered around the map that heal you but honestly, you aren't going to need them as the enemies in the game are ridiculously easy to defeat and if you chain 5 kills you get a healing bonus. There was even a time I respawned after falling into the lava and was ambushed by about 5 monsters but still managed to slip out with over half my health remaining. The fourth tool comes in the form of a slow motion ability that is obtained by finding a statue with a glowing purple orb. You're supposed to use it to bypass a couple of rocks moving up and down at insane speeds but honestly you don't even need the slow-mo ability if you just pass the rocks on the sides where the ground is lower. At first I finessed my way passed the rocks before I found the slow motion power-up so I didn't even think I missed anything. On top of that, this area is the only place you're meant to use this ability so for the rest of the game, this power with massive potential is just as useful as the potion. Last but not least, the grappling hook. All it is is a platform hopper which it's sole purpose is to bring you to platforms you can't reach with a regular jump. It's useful enough I guess and it's absolutely required in order to beat the game but it feels so awkward to use because you don't always know where you're going to go once it's used. There are yellow highlighted hooks which shows where you can activate your grappling hook but honestly that just makes the grappling hook feel that much more restricted and useless. Some hooks even serve no purpose at all aside from making you move faster through the map. If they let you use the hook wherever you want, that would be kind of cool but no, they had to restrict them to these island hopping landmarks making the game even more boring cause you're mostly running around killing braindead monsters. The game also doesn't tell you that you sometimes have to grapple onto a hook from a distance to gain momentum to reach other platforms and then move slightly left or right in order to avoid hitting the hook itself. This manoeuvre is required in order to reach certain areas but clearly not everyone who played this game knew. And after all that's been said and done, what do you get when you reach the ending? A scoring system I didn't even know existed that adds up your kills, time completion and reserved potions. The game then proceeds to literally commit suicide and closes itself. And that's 'Orion: The Eternal Punishment'. It's definitely not a great game and has numerous flaws that make the game difficult to beat due to obliviousness.
Controls:
They work fine to an extent and the game even gives you the controls right from the get go which is more than can be said. But like I said, the developer fails to mention how to properly manoeuvre with the grappling hook but when you figure it out, the game is super easy to beat. There are few enough controls the game has to make it simple to pick up and play, but the real question is: "Would you want to?".
Graphics:
Definitely not good by any standard passed 2004 but I do somewhat appreciate the grainy aesthetic throughout the game. The weapons and enemies however are ugly with unappealing colors, low resolutions and poor animations. The environment as mentioned has a purple hue to it making the whole world look awful and still makes me wonder why they went with this design style. Like many bad games, textures are inconsistent all throughout with some patches looking detailed while others pixelated. It just isn't a good look and with the game running at a locked 60 frames, not only does the game look grisly, but the smoothness is just as bad.
Audio:
Almost as bad as the graphics and gameplay. Weapon sound effects are laughable and music is essentially nonexistent. Surprisingly though, there's voice acting which takes place in the beginning cutscene where the narrator tells the player the game's story. Although the voice acting isn't terrible (by god if you could hear some of the voice acting I've heard in my life), it still isn't good.
Conclusion/TL;DR:
'Orion: The Eternal Punishment' is a short and poorly made first person shooter with a number of issues that stem from lack of crucial information that is required in order to beat the game being provided to the player. You play through a drab looking rocky valley while killing the most nonthreatening enemies in the world. The layout is confusing simply because the game doesn't tell you what you're supposed to do or find and just leaves the player to figure out where to go and how to get there. Many players believe it or not got stuck and for a game that lasts no longer than half an hour leaving players stuck in limbo, that says a lot. Personally I got lucky and eventually figured out how to progress in the areas where most people got stumped but trust me when I say, I'm using the word "lucky" very loosely. 'Orion: The Eternal Punishment' just isn't a well made game even for the most casual FPS player and has little to nothing to do with Greek mythology.
combat is shallow, crossbow feels like a pain to fire. Leading shots at enemies with the pixelated filter is also a pain. Kinda wish the weapon wasn't so ass. Streak system didn't really matter since the concentration/total number of enemies was so low. No idea what to do either, nothing guiding the player through the map. I got into this one area with a statue holding a purple object. No way to interact with it, nor could I figure out what it did. Continuing down the path led you to the bottom of a pit with a few enemies inside. This pit was literally empty, minus the few enemies that spawn. Things like this make the game kind of a slog. Maybe if the core mechanics were overhauled and the level design was improved, things like the streak and grappling systems could actually improve the gameplay.
chill little shooter that reminds me a bit of the old doom game. the simple graphics and gameplay are a nice break from the high detail crazy shooters of today,
I wish I could make a positive review, but this game just doesn't scratch the itch it seems like it's trying to. There are some decently solid foundations here but the movement and time to kill were just way to slow for a fun "speed-run-able" experience. Grappling physics feel weird and unfinished. Trying to get the momentum, angle, and speed for effective grappling is hindered by unintuitive physics. The gun-play could be fun if time to kill enemies was drastically decreased or some basic changes like prioritizing aiming for swift kills. All-in-all a decent free experience but could be way better with some tuning and polish.
