Grazie!

only in italian. not very beginner friendly, a lot of text and it disappears quickly. some characters are very difficult to understand too. it's an okay short game, really tests your italian comprehension.
Onironauta, developed and published by PianoB Studio, is a compact yet imaginative point-and-click adventure that leans fully into the surreal logic of dreams. The title itself hints at its central idea—becoming a traveler within the world of sleep—and that concept defines the entire experience. Rather than grounding players in realism or traditional adventure tropes, the game invites them to step into the subconscious of its protagonist, Luca, and explore a dreamscape where environments shift unpredictably and events unfold with whimsical, sometimes absurd logic. The narrative framework is simple but effective. Luca finds himself drifting through a sequence of dreamlike scenarios that blend familiar domestic settings with fantastical landscapes. One moment, you may be navigating an ordinary room; the next, you are wandering through castles, seas, or strange, exaggerated environments that feel plucked from a child’s imagination. The transitions are not meant to be rational or meticulously explained. Instead, they mirror the fluid and often illogical flow of real dreams, where continuity takes a back seat to atmosphere and emotion. This approach gives Onironauta a distinctive personality, separating it from more structured adventure games that prioritize clear plot progression. Gameplay adheres to classic point-and-click conventions but keeps complexity to a minimum. Players guide Luca through environments by clicking to move and interact with objects. Puzzles exist, but they are intentionally modest in scope. Inventory management and problem-solving revolve around straightforward item combinations and environmental interactions rather than intricate logic chains. This design choice makes the game highly accessible, especially for players who prefer a relaxed pace over demanding challenge. While seasoned adventure fans may find the puzzles relatively simple, the low difficulty aligns with the game’s dreamlike tone. The emphasis is on exploration and atmosphere rather than mental strain. One of the most charming aspects of Onironauta is its sense of humor. The game frequently injects playful dialogue and unexpected scenarios into its surreal world. A recurring companion character adds personality to the journey, often providing commentary that oscillates between helpful and mischievous. These interactions give Luca’s adventure a lighthearted quality, preventing the dream setting from becoming overly abstract or detached. The humor serves as an anchor, making the experience feel personable rather than purely conceptual. Visually, Onironauta embraces a colorful, stylized aesthetic that complements its imaginative premise. The environments are expressive rather than realistic, filled with exaggerated shapes and vibrant palettes that enhance the sense of stepping into a subconscious world. The art direction carries a certain retro charm, reflecting its indie origins and giving the game a handcrafted feel. While it does not strive for high-end graphical fidelity, it successfully conveys mood and whimsy through its visual design. The soundtrack and ambient audio further support the atmosphere, creating a relaxed, almost contemplative tone throughout the journey. In terms of scope, Onironauta is a relatively short experience. A full playthrough typically lasts only a few hours, making it more akin to a narrative vignette than a sprawling adventure. However, its brevity works in its favor. The game does not overextend its premise or dilute its dreamlike charm with unnecessary filler. Instead, it offers a concise exploration of surreal storytelling that feels complete within its limited runtime. This compact structure makes it particularly appealing to players looking for a self-contained indie experience that can be enjoyed in a single sitting or over a quiet weekend. Ultimately, Onironauta succeeds not through mechanical innovation or narrative complexity, but through its cohesive commitment to atmosphere and imagination. It captures the unpredictable rhythm of dreams and translates it into an accessible point-and-click format filled with charm and humor. While it may not satisfy players seeking deep puzzle systems or intricate storytelling layers, it stands out as a whimsical and creative indie adventure. For those who appreciate offbeat concepts and surreal journeys, Onironauta offers a gentle and memorable excursion into the playful side of the subconscious. Rating: 7/10
