This is what you call a proper reboot
very good, combat is a blast
Never thought this day would come, but I think Onimusha has become my new favorite sword-combat game over Sekiro. Every single mechanic that's been introduced so far works flawlessly, and the amount of control you have over how much risk you're willing to take is something I don't think I've experienced in any other game before. Say an enemy comes at you with a simple sword slash. You can dodge, perfect dodge, parry, deflect, which is basically a perfect parry, or Issen, which is a direct counterattack and also has the tightest window. That's five different options for a single attack, each with its own level of risk. The combat is genuinely just this beautiful, flowing dance, and it's incredibly satisfying while also being very cinematic. Some of the actions you perform genuinely feel scripted, but they're not. Difficulty is also definitely present, but that's mainly reserved for the boss fights. Every one I've faced until now has felt completely fair, but their attacks do require some good reflexes and pattern recognition. I won't say the game is as difficult as Sekiro, but for now, that's mainly come down to the amount of damage bosses deal. Generally, you're just able to take a few more hits than in Sekiro, but in terms of raw boss aggression and move variety, they have honestly been fairly equal so far. I'll update this once I've finished the game, so maybe this is prone to change. Finally, I have to say something about performance. Capcom, THANK YOU for caring about proper optimization. This is a prime example of how even AAA games that look this good should run. I'm getting a stable 120+ FPS at medium 1440p without framegen on my RX 6700 XT rig, which is frankly near unbelievable for a 2026 release. So yeah, I'm impressed. These are my thoughts after around 11 hours. As I've mentioned before, I'll likely update this after finishing the game, but I just had to already give this game a positive review, as it will most likely end up as my 2026 GOTY.
This has to be the worst multi target combat ever seen in a game of this genre. Besides graphics the rest is meh. They took everything wrong with Nioh 3 combat and made it worse. The camera is quite bad and the boss are the same stagger bar with no damage and then big chunk of hp bar of the boss down. They recycled the 4 models that are in the game for the trash, what else? Mechanics are also meh. Not worth the asking price. Wait for sale
it is a amazing game the graphics story and combat is amazing its a 10 out of 10 in my book.
CAPGOD never miss...
