Short free wordless puzzle adventure in the vein of Samorost, but just a bit too frustrating to recommend. + Cosy vibe + Cute art and sounds + Short - I was frustrated, because it's not distinguished when a "speech" bubble is just narration and when it's the supposed mode of interaction, so for a significant portion of the game I had no idea when/how the game expected me to interact with things. - The menus have also no words, so it's a guessing game which submenu does what. - The characters' movement speed is quite slow, so it felt like a drag despite the short overall length.
A short point and click adventure game with a gorgeous art style.

I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories. Thank you

One Eyed Kutkh is a very unusual little adventure game that mixes a science fiction story with fairy tales and mythology from the Far North. I follow a strange one eyed traveller after his ship crashes on a mysterious planet, and the main goal is to reach the ninth heaven, trick the Sun and Moon and take their space boats so he can continue his journey home. I really like how different that sounds from a normal point and click adventure. The whole game has its own strange atmosphere, and it feels more like a playable folk tale than a traditional adventure. The artwork is easily the strongest part for me. The game has a very distinctive 2D style with colourful characters, strange landscapes and lots of unusual shapes and designs. I spend a lot of the game simply looking at the environments because there is a lot of personality in them. The mix of space travel with Northern mythology also gives it an identity that I do not see very often. It is a small game, but visually it feels like the developers had a clear idea of the world they wanted to create. I also like that there are two playable characters. Switching between them gives the story a little more variety, and their different situations help the adventure feel more like a sequence of strange events rather than one long puzzle room. The game also tells much of its story through what happens on screen instead of relying on huge amounts of dialogue. That works well for this kind of experience because I can understand what is happening through the characters and environments without needing everything explained to me. The puzzles are where I have mixed feelings. They are deliberately simple and are clearly designed to be accessible, so I never feel completely stuck for long. That makes the game easy to get through, but it also means I rarely get that really satisfying moment where I finally understand a difficult puzzle. A lot of the interaction is fairly straightforward, and the adventure is very linear. I like the simplicity because it keeps the story moving, but I think the gameplay could have used more depth to match the creativity of the setting. The biggest issue for me is the length. One Eyed Kutkh is a very short experience, and once I have finished it there is not a huge amount of reason to return unless I want to revisit the artwork or atmosphere. That is not necessarily a problem for a small free game, and I actually think the short length helps stop the simple puzzles from becoming too repetitive. Still, I would have liked to see the unusual world developed further because there are some really interesting ideas here that could have supported a much larger adventure. I also think the game works better when I treat it as an interactive story rather than expecting a full puzzle adventure. The developers describe it as something between a video game, theatrical performance and animated film, and I think that is a fair way to look at it. The music, visuals and strange mythology are doing a lot of the work, while the actual gameplay is mostly there to move me through the story. That makes it a much easier experience to appreciate if I am looking for atmosphere and something different rather than challenging gameplay. Overall, One Eyed Kutkh is a charming and genuinely unusual adventure that I think is worth experiencing for its artwork, setting and atmosphere. I really like the combination of space travel and Northern fairy tales, and the two characters give the short story some extra personality. The simple puzzles and very short length hold it back from being one of my higher rated adventure games, but I cannot deny that it has a style of its own. Since the main game is free on Steam, I think it is an easy recommendation when I want something short, strange and more focused on atmosphere than challenge. Rating: 7.1/10
