An okay mystery story with absolutely hilarious characters. I've got tired of them by the end, but sure i will remember them for a long time.

Fun little investigative game that's clearly (and unashamedly) inspired by the Ace Attorney series. The general gameplay is very straightforward - you investigate a crime scene, collect evidence, and persuade/interrogate witnesses using the information you gathered. There isn't really any moon logic to navigate, and for the most part the contradictions are pretty easy to spot, but even if you get stuck, you can ask for advice which just about gives you the answer most of the time. The game has a very light tone with the kind of wacky over-the-top characters that you'd expect if you've played any Ace Attorney game. It's very charming and got quite a few laughs out of me. It's also free!

Occult Crime Police is genuinely such a delightful game. It takes a lot of cues from Ace Attorney, including various fun references, but it still stands on its own as a really funny, really well-crafted detective game. I can attest to this, having played Case 1 for the first time before I ever played Ace Attorney, and for the second time (years later) after having played Ace Attorney. I'm writing this review after just having replayed Case 1 and played Case 2 for the first time. I already loved the first case, and the second one builds upon the already incredible start: there's some fun new poses added to the old sprites, the new sprites have a lot of polish, the humor is ever-present, and the newest case told its own really interesting self-contained story while also moving along the overarching narrative of Will Jaeger's dissapearance. Just, again, such an absolutely delightful game. I'd also go so far as to say that, on the mechanical side, I like how this game does things better than its inspiration, Ace Attorney: there's a checklist of what you need to do in the walk around/point and click sections (God knows I got stuck MANY a time in AA), and there's also an 'advice' button for witness interrogations. Both of these things are entirely optional to click on/check, so if you like a challenge you can go through it entirely without help, but if you DO get stuck you don't immediately have to take to the internet for a walkthrough. I didn't use these resources all of the time, but they made the game much less frustrating that AA was when I did fall back on them. :] Cannot possibly overstate how much I am looking forward to Case 3: Carlos Gets Body Snatched. (Carlos is one of my favorite characters he's SOOOO funny.)
