Not Heaven is an interactive world based on Wealthy Relative’s EP on the same name. Even though there’s nothing wrong with the concept itself, there are some serious issues that I have with this “game”.
[h1]Gameplay(?)[/h1]
You take control of a character that can paint stuff and take photos, though they have don’t really serve much of a purpose in all honesty (imo…). You can watch music videos and various art throughout the gallery. The music videos are good and the music is also solid, if you’re into rap music.
The biggest problem that I encountered was the poor framerate on Mega HD and on higher resolutions. Lower resolutions [i]slightly[/i] help with this issue but it’s still pretty bad, especially when you’re constantly moving with your mouse. It’s so bad that you can end up in a completely different section. Oof… There’s also issue with the sound department which I’ll talk about later but overall, the concept is fine but the performance ruins it…
[h1]Visuals [/h1]
The game is made in the Unity engine. The graphics and HUD aren’t the best to look at, but it’s not as bad as it looks. It’s alright. Nothing spectacular, graphics are crisp and simple.

I’ve got a few things to say this. As you may already know, this game is an interactive world based on Wealthy Relative’s EP (compilation of music). In this game, you can listen to the artist’s music which is decent and enjoyable if you like rap music. However, if you’re leaving an area, the music might sound like it is “buffering”. It’s hard to describe it but in short, it’s unpleasant to listen. Fortunately, you can listen to the whole EP on his Soundcloud. Another thing that’s unpleasant to hear is when you’re picking up objects, you get this weird, mythical force-like sound when you’re carrying objects. Fortunately, you can turn down the volume… of the whole entire game! It’s like pick your poison! Live with the sounds, or play in mute! Overall, the music is good but the sound effects are…eh…
[h1]Conclusion[/h1]
Eh… I can’t say it’s a bad recommendation but it’s definitely not a good one either. The music is solid overall but the poor performance and sound flaws hold the game from being a good recommendation. Since it is free, you’re not missing out much. If you want to give it a try, go ahead otherwise, it’s a safe pass from me. If you really want to listen to the artist’s music, go check the EP through his [url=https://soundcloud.com/wealthyrelative/sets/not-heaven]Soundcloud[/url]. It’s not worth the time to actually go through the game.
