TLDR: Not bad, but certainly not good -Nine Sols is not a bad game. However, I couldn't find myself enjoying it... At all. I've deleted and redownloaded this game now 3 times, with the third (and last) being the farthest I've gotten. I tried to force myself to complete it because I wanted to be able to say I did, because I've heard a lot of positive things about this game. But every single moment I spent playing this was completely dreadful for me. This wasn't a skill issue thing because I don't have a problem with exploration since I've played a ton of Metroidvanias, and I'm a quick learner when it comes to parries in games. But everything felt so boring here. -The combat felt so tedious and lackluster. The primary attack being only 3 hits felt insanely ridiculous for a game like this, and the bow, which does high damage, only has three shots before you're empty. All other combat aspects stem from parrying. I think I got about halfway through the game, so I'm not sure if more combat abilities get unlocked, but to be honest I don't really care because I'm not interested enough to reach that point. The one thing about the combat that I did find pretty cool was the "Internal Damage" concept, which means when you parry a bit too early, you can slowly regenerate the health you would have lost as long as you don't get hit, and if you do get hit, you lose the chance to regenerate on top of taking more damage. Other than that though, it wasn't anything special -The music is really really good and fits the vibe of the environment very nicely depending on where you are. I'm also a huge fan of the artstyle, with the bolded lines and vibrant colors. I also liked how Yi's flashbacks with his sister to his childhood actually makes them look like kids and not just babies. The artists trust that you'll see the little details that make them look younger instead of giving them pacifiers or something because they think you're stupid and won't get it. Easily my favorite part of the art in this game was the comic panels when something important was happening or before/after a boss battle. I have no complaints about any of the art in this game, it's really really good -The story seemed kinda... dry? I tried to soak everything in from the start of all three of my saves and not once could I bring myself to care about about the story direction or character's personalities. I reached a point extremely early in the game where I couldn't even bother to pretend to be interested in anything that was going on, and just ended up skipping all dialogue entirely, and went on my phone when there was an unskippable cutscene. I especially hate the way that Yi treats everybody. He's your average quiet, mysterious, lone wolf character, and he didn't feel too corny or anything but he's just such an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all the time and he treats everyone like garbage -Overall, this game is not exactly bad. There are several good parts to it that kept me going as long as I did, and lots of people enjoy it and that's awesome for them. But I personally really don't like it, and I think it's just gonna stay in the depths of my library. At least I can say I tried it though, and I would only recommend it on sale if you have nothing else to play
It's a so beautiful game in many meanings. I've completed it in the second time and had so much fun. Want to pay additional respect for the last boss fight - that's how it must be. It's difficult, fast, furious, skill is required.
Jogue pelo desafio, platine pela historia.
There is currently a ton of media referring this game as one to play after Silkong. If you play HK or Silksong, I would still recommend it but warn you it's one of those games you either love or hate. Personally, as someone who has grown up playing HK and had a great time on Silksong, this is my new favourite game. The main controversial point is the parrying mechanic but the gameplay is epic, the graphics are even better and the storytelling is beyond absolute cinema. It is a wholesome game in itself and 100% worth buying.
Nine Sols Review: Edit: After read more review i relaise the issue with this game isnt the difficulty it the parried based combat system now the parries in the game for the most part feel pretty good but the issue is that when you pull of an perfect parry there no reward you just dont take damage and the fight continues and thats it. That is what make the combat feel so bad and unbalanced but dont get me wrong there alot of great thing this game does very well but the disappointing parry system is so frustrating that make me want to go play something else. That being said i stand by past feel i think this game is something i would recommend to player who want an experience that very difficulty and feels punishing really wanting a challenge. But i think it just isnt for me ill update review if my opinion changes
Sekiro but 2D
yes. please play this game. if you're someone that has liked games like hollow knight, silksong, this game is super for you!!!!! at first, this game was a big punch to me in the gut because i am NOT good at parrying, and it's a game where parry is almost unavoidable for combat, but i promise you, that by time you'll get good at it. if you're like me lol. this game is the type of games that i feel like im grateful to witness it in my life. im so glad i gave this game a chance, and i could have not, but i did, and i am so happy about it because, man, that was an experience. the lore, the characters, the music, the topics the game touches, the manga-inspired art artstyle, the voice acting of characters, the character development throughout the story, it's all so amazing and well done!!!!!!!!! what specially drove me crazy about this piece is the story & characters. holy ♥♥♥♥. i cant describe how, even though the gameplay was AMAZING, i wanted to progress more in the game because the story had me HOOKED. i wanted so BAD to know what would happen next. and it's the first time for me in a while where a protagonist interests me so much. one of the best stuff in the game is honestly the protagonist himself. cinema. we slowly learn about him as the story progresses, slowly watch him grow, discover stuff about him throughout interactions with other characters, it's just so amazing. if i keep rambling about him i'll end up spoiling it all, but DAMN, NINE SOLS, WHAT A GOOD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PROTAGONIST. I AM OBSESSED i will warn though that the game's pretty hard in its standard mode, i even personally consider it a bit harder than silksong, but you can still pretty much enjoy the story in "story mode": the game offers you two modes to play with, and here, you can change the health and damage from other enemies!!! but still, watch out if the game might be right for you. and if you cant play it, i 100% recommend watching the story anyways. it is truly amazing, and worth it.
there 10 sols
