Apparently this was made by some group affiliated with the University of Wisconsin and it's supposed to be educational. The first thing I learned is that I don't have the patience for this kind of game. I guess I can't blame the game for that completely, though. Basically you maneuver various little ships around an obstacle course and try not run into stuff; and there's not much room for error here, let me tell you. If you so much as brush the tiniest particle of any other object your ship instantly explodes in a pyrotechnic shower of debris. The key is not to focus 100% on it or else your head will explode, too. What you need to do is put something on in the background that takes up about half of your attention and then you'll sail right through. I don't know why, but it works. The brain is a funny thing. Seems like they want to teach you about gravity or momentum or the moons of the solar system or something, but it ends up being more of a lesson in applied neuroscience. You'll definitely get better if you stick with it, so it must be doing something. Anyway, it's really not a bad game. Looks good. Sounds good. Plays smoothly; but they have some pretty high expectations for your level of precision, so if you have a low tolerance for that kind of thing and get mad easily then you may want to avoid this one. Despite my initial reaction, it did grow on me a bit. Kind of gives you the feeling that you're being tested. For a while there I was hoping if I did really well I'd get a call from the Star League telling me they needed my skills to defend the frontier against Zur and the Kodan armada. No such luck; although I can't really blame them. I run into a lot of rocks. "Newt's Voyage" — это тщательно продуманное расследование, где каждый шаг игроку предстоит разобраться в загадках прошлого. График отличается глубиной и атмосферой, а механики сочетают логику и инновации. Хотя некоторые моменты требуют времени и аналитики, игра не перегружает, а заставляет задуматься. Эмоциональная глубина и уникальные сюжетные элементы делают её не только интересной, но и запоминающейся. Всё в лучшем виде — это не просто игра, а опыт, который оставляет после себя.
A fun little game. Very quickly ramps into some punishing difficulty if you’re going for 100% completion with the harder ships, but if you’re just along for the ride completing the levels with the “Easy” spaceship is perfectly doable.
"Newt's Voyage" is a poor quality ripoff of Lunar Lander made for iPhones where you fly a spaceship using weak propulsion pseudo-physics through various 2D levels for no real interesting reason, which goes perfectly with the gameplay not being interesting either. This is a mobile app... it doesn't matter if this was ported to PC before or after the app store release, or even if this didn't even make it to the app stores. This is built for the absolutely lowest of all gaming platforms and must be judged as such... it's not going to give you a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps. The graphics are lacklustre because this was designed for mobile phones, not gaming PCs. Whenever a product is designed to run tolerably on 5 year old iPhones, it's obviously not going to come close to the minimum quality standards that PC gaming enthusiasts except on their cutting edge gaming rigs. One more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. PC gamers don't spend thousands on their gaming rigs so they can pretend they're iPhones. That alone is enough to disqualify this for recommendation. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
