NEStalgia

Utter garbage. I've had this game for 2 days. NEStalgia refuses to allow me to create an account. Account creation is completely broken. That's awesome. I had to go to BYOND directly to create a new account. Then I finally go to play locally - and nope, apparently I haven't purchased NEStalgia at all. It's not worth the effort. Don't even bother thinking about it. The developers should ashamed of themselves for this pile of crap.

Great Grind Game

To get straight to the point, this game is unfinished, dead, and abandoned. It is not worth the money. This game gave me great memories with my friends when I played it with them in 2019. We used a private server and had a great time messing around together. We had stories for our characters and everything. I say this because that was the only reason I played this game. Not only was my character tied to the host server (meaning I could not access it for solo play at all), but the game was horribly unbalanced without friends anyways, especially if you used a support class. Besides that, the only real draw to the game was that some of my friends already owned it, and so we could play in a private server. If it was not for that, I would have no reason to play it, since the community is virtually dead. The public servers were gone long before I even heard of the game. The MMO aspect of the game no longer exists. I did not disliked the game fundamentally. There was a lot I liked, like the aesthetic and the simple battle system. but there are better options out there, options that are complete, balanced, and still have thriving community even though they are just as old, if not older, than this game. Do Not Buy This Game

I haven't played much of this game yet, but don't worry about the comments saying you can't play this game. There are public (though not official) servers for this game. You also need a BYOND account to play, but I think it's worth it to set up for this game. If you like the older Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games, then this is very similar to that with the addition of multiplayer with parties of 3 and entire skill trees at your disposal for customization. No friends means you can still recruit monsters to fight alongside you- and you can make your own private games if you really want to. I like this game even though I haven't played a lot yet, and that opinion will surely get better with time.

It was abandoned. It hurts so much

Let me say this upfront. This game is too expensive. It IS a quality gaming experience and you can still play it on unofficial servers. The storyline is cute and interesting at the same time, the game play is already good, and if you can get friends to play with you on an unofficial server the game play is even better, and the graphics are cute and well done. There are some problems with the game balancing, but you can do very well with any class. The developer did say he might eventually come back and work on this again. (Don't count on it, but I have no reason to believe he was dishonest in saying this.) The reason that the very, very, VERY long awaited expansion never came is not his fault in the slightest. You can check out his conversations in the steam forums here for more information. IF the expansion ever, ever comes out, finally, it is possible that more playable classes will be available. With all that said, buy it any time you can when it's on sale. For how the game is now, maybe get it for just a little cheaper if you want it.

This used to be a favorite of mine. When it worked, it was a really fun game, such a simple but fun concept! A little imbalanced without a third party, but it wasn't anything that broke the playability. What did break it was the way it was wholly abandoned by the creators, and all the servers were shut down. There's hints here and there about other people hosting servers, but unless you already have the game, I cannot say the price tag is worth also trying to piece that together.
