I wasnt gonna write a reveiw as the game is old as hell and even on launch had terrible reviews but i see people reviewing it still so screw it right. well long story short no just dont. the game is a buggy dumpster fire. game looks ok but physics are terrible and so is the bugs. like they did so little QA in this game that any inrace UI shows player driver instead of your drivers name. how can you let something so simple go overlooked then not even ever patch that. i paid a dollar for the game and all dlcs and i still feel ripped off. atleast i could have gotten a dollar cheeseburger if i wasnt robbed. but nope no burger for me just a dumpster fire of a game on my ssd.

NASCAR 21: Ignition, developed and published by Motorsport Games, was positioned as a bold reset for NASCAR video games when it launched in 2021. Built using Unreal Engine alongside technology derived from the rFactor 2 physics platform, the game promised a more authentic simulation of the NASCAR Cup Series than its predecessors. With official teams, drivers, and tracks from the 2021 season, along with a cinematic broadcast-style presentation, it aimed to usher NASCAR gaming into a new era. On paper, the shift in engine technology and visual fidelity suggested a meaningful leap forward for the franchise. Visually, NASCAR 21: Ignition shows glimpses of that ambition. Car models are detailed, liveries are faithfully recreated, and certain lighting conditions—particularly during late afternoon and night races—offer a more atmospheric feel than previous NASCAR titles. The broadcast-inspired pre-race introductions and post-race sequences attempt to replicate the television experience, adding an extra layer of authenticity. Engine audio carries weight, capturing the rumble and high-speed intensity of stock car racing. For fans who value official presentation and realism in aesthetics, these aspects demonstrate clear effort to modernize the franchise’s visual identity. When it comes to driving mechanics, the use of rFactor-based physics provides moments of genuine depth. Cars feel heavier and more sensitive to throttle control compared to earlier entries in the Heat series. Tire wear, drafting, and track position play meaningful roles in race outcomes, especially on superspeedways where aerodynamic positioning can make or break a run. In ideal conditions, the game can deliver competitive and engaging racing, particularly when battling AI opponents that are tuned to higher difficulty levels. The foundation for a more simulation-oriented NASCAR experience is present, and when the systems align properly, races can feel intense and rewarding. However, these strengths are frequently overshadowed by technical instability and inconsistent execution. At launch, NASCAR 21: Ignition was plagued by bugs ranging from graphical glitches and crashes to broken caution systems and unpredictable AI behavior. Players reported issues with race restarts, scoring inconsistencies, and erratic car movements. While patches addressed some of the more severe problems, lingering performance issues and occasional instability have continued to affect the overall experience for many users. These technical shortcomings significantly undermined confidence in the title, particularly among longtime NASCAR fans expecting a polished flagship entry. Career mode, another highly anticipated feature, feels underdeveloped. Rather than offering a deep, immersive progression system with team management, sponsorship negotiations, and multi-series advancement, the career structure remains relatively barebones. Players compete in races within the Cup Series, but there is little sense of narrative growth or long-term strategic planning. Compared to other racing franchises that integrate robust managerial elements and story-driven arcs, NASCAR 21: Ignition’s career mode can feel repetitive and limited. The absence of lower-tier series further restricts progression variety, reducing the feeling of climbing through NASCAR’s competitive ladder. Customization stands out as one of the more successful additions. The Paint Booth tool allows players to create detailed custom liveries, offering creative freedom rarely seen in previous NASCAR titles. For players invested in personalizing their racing identity, this feature adds meaningful replay value. Multiplayer racing is also included, though online participation and stability can vary. When servers are active and performance is stable, competing against human opponents can be thrilling, reflecting the unpredictable nature of NASCAR’s real-world competition. However, the overall online experience depends heavily on active player counts and network reliability. Ultimately, NASCAR 21: Ignition is an ambitious but flawed attempt to reinvent NASCAR gaming. It introduces modern graphics, improved physics potential, and expanded customization, but struggles with technical polish and depth of content. For dedicated NASCAR enthusiasts, there are moments where the racing itself captures the essence of the sport—tight drafting battles, strategic pit decisions, and high-speed tension. Yet the inconsistent performance and underdeveloped career systems prevent it from fully realizing its potential. It stands as a reminder that strong foundations and official licensing are only part of what makes a successful racing game; execution and refinement are equally critical. While it aimed to redefine NASCAR’s digital presence, it ultimately feels like a transitional experiment rather than the definitive next-generation NASCAR experience many had hoped for. Rating: 3/10
Thank goodness Iracing and NASCAR 25 exists. This game makes me wanna sit on my tv and look at my couch.

Notice: NASCAR 21: Ignition is no longer available on the Steam store. This is the correct outcome for this loosly compiled travesty.
You can’t buy this game anymore despite it being released less than 5 years ago, but thank god nobody else will waste their money on this hot steaming garbage. I’d rather play Flatout 3.
