I mean it's alright, at least we got more Marimo content. I'd feel scammed if i paid full price for this

A fair good side story collection all things considered but it is lighter on content when compared to Photonflowers. Still, the side stories that are here are fairly nice, with special shoutouts to Atonement and Confessions, my personal favorites of the pack. In addition, the Sumika epilogue, Before the Cherry Blossoms Bloom, is a lovely end cap to the world of Extra and a must see for anyone who likes that side of Muv Luv.

Very interesting and fun reads, i liked the alternative side but mainly i liked the extra part more, i missed the original extra cast so i was very happy to see them again, sumika is the greatest

This side story collection for Muv-Luv (both Extra and Alternative) is a good collection for the fans. Obviously, you'll need to have read the first 2 games fully before reading these as they add to those stories and have spoilers for them as a result. This review, as with my other ones, is spoiler-free but assumes familiarity with the prior entries as a result. There are several stories for both the Extra and Alternative side that fill in a lot of back story and character motivations, especially for the Alternative side (where some new characters are also introduced). I preferred the Extra side overall as it had more variety but both sides have interesting stories to add to this universe. Each side has one or two longer stories that are clearly the main focus and several short stories (some very short - clocking in at under an hour) that cover more minor corners of the Muv-Luv universe. The Extra side is very light-hearted and the Alternative side heavier as expected. Both have some of the issues of Alternative such as some long-winded and excessive explanations and dialogue as well as some slightly forced bits of drama along with male-oriented motivations for the female leads. They also have some surprising (and unnecessary) NSFW moments and jokes although those can be mostly ignored for the story. The Extra stories are sometimes stupid but preserve the feel of the route for the character they're focusing on from Extra (e.g. everyone is more protective of Tama, weirdness with Kei, etc). The Alternative stories answer questions about specific backstory elements brought up in Alternative while introducing some interesting new characters. The shorter stories are better for me in this package. They're tightly written, well-paced and introduce new elements to the Muv-Luv universe. The longer stories are a bit too long sometimes with pacing that might drag and some ridiculousness that could have been avoided. Still, the overall package is solid if you want more from this franchise and the way the stories are organised adds punch to the emotional moments later on in this collection. This one is for the fans and it's worth reading. Everyone else, read the prior entries first and you will likely want this afterwards.
