Join private investigator Jack Pepper on a guns blazing, jazz-fueled adventure in MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. MOUSE combines the charm of hand-drawn rubber hose animation inspired by the classic cartoons of the 1930’s with the adrenaline and action of an explosive first person shooter.

The most overhyped FPS game I've played in a while. The admittedly great art does little to mask a generic story and a middling FPS game. PROS:

The game looks fantastic. It's a shame all this cool animation is in service of such a bland game.
Same goes for the voice acting.
The game does seem rather long. I'm at 6 hours and I'm nowhere near the finish. That's rather long for an FPS, although if the gameplay remains the same for the rest of the game, I feel I'm gonna struggle to finish it.
The lockpicking mini-game is pretty original and the baseball card game thing is fun.
MEH:

Most of the replayability of this game comes from the collectables. If you really like that sort of thing, cool, but it's not my cup of tea.
It's a pretty easy game compared to other FPS games. I've played it on hard and so far, I've had little difficulty getting through the game. Admittedly, I play a lot of FPS games, so your mileage may vary.
CONS:

The weapons are really underwhelming. For a game that has all the reason to be over the top and silly, it has the most stock-standard arsenal I've ever seen. Even worse, most of the weapons don't even feel that great. I swear whoever designed the pump-action shotgun in this game was going for 'The Worst FPS Shotgun Ever Award'.
Enemy variety is also rather plain. Shield guys. Gun guys. Big guys. Flying guys. Even though there are different factions, they all play the same. Combined with the boring weapons, this makes for an FPS that only ever rises to the level of average.
The writing is generic and it isn't all that funny either. Cheese puns and media references. That's it. Them the jokes.
The hub area just feels like a waste of time in what is a linear story. There seems to be no point in playing levels in different order or searching for extra clues either. It's not a big deal, but there just seemed to be so much more potential.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire . A very stylish game made in the style of 1920s animation. The music is amazing, the gameplay is okay, although I wouldn't say it's particularly enjoyable. . A nice lockpick mechanic. Good death animation.

Simple fps with great animations and a decent story. Most jokes and references landed for me. The detective aspect is simple aesthetic. Worth the money, and the ability to replay levels is a big bonus.
repetitive ass game
A game for everyone! One of the best this year!
With all the funding this thing must have required, this is DEFINITELY not an indie game. it's the gaming equivalent of an industry plant. Beyond the art style this game is mediocre at best, which is very disappointing as someone who had it on their wishlist since the concept was originally unveiled, and had a different title. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ millennial and gen z humor made me roll my eyes, especially the overdone meta jokes. The reddit-tier political satire was enraging at times, especially because the time period this is set in had a lot of material to work with in that department.

I avoid retro aesthetics and I was very sceptical about the black and white color palette but I’m glad I took the risk to buy the game, Mouse: PI For Hire is one of the best games I’ve played this year. It’s a very entertaining mix of Steamboat Willie, Philip Marlowe and Doom with an engaging story, great music, a lot of shooting and just the right amount of humour. The level of polish is unusually high for an indie game, I haven’t encountered any serious bugs, crashes or performance issues. I can absolutely recommend this game, it was a breath of fresh air after some recent “AAA” slop.
