Отличная атмосфера. Не понравился только чрезмерно большой лес на локации с аттракционами и крайне низкий фпс. А так спасибо за нотки ностальгии (не по короне конечно же). "Я кстати тот самый Ren, который отремонтировал фордик =]
The game is very atmospheric and having quarantine enforcers hunting you is frightening especially with the snowy and foggy environment. But there's not much interaction aside from activating switches and speaking with some people.
Положительный отзыв только из-за радио, без него до конца бы точно не дошел
Unfortunately this game is completely broken. I am unable to interact with anything other than a door. The sound options do not work so eventually you will have music and a dozen people talking all at once and in Russian. There are english subtitles.
Motherland is a quiet, introspective first-person adventure that deliberately steps away from traditional game design in favor of mood, observation, and emotional atmosphere. Developed by Andreev Worlds and published by My Way Games, the title presents itself as a somber, adult-oriented fairy tale grounded in realism rather than fantasy. Set in a small provincial town during an epidemic, the game places players in the role of a stranded foreigner, cut off from familiar comforts and forced to navigate an unfamiliar society frozen in a state of anxious stillness. From the outset, it becomes clear that Motherland is less concerned with action or mechanical challenge and more focused on capturing the quiet weight of isolation, routine, and subdued human connection. The gameplay structure revolves primarily around exploration and interaction. Players move slowly through apartments, streets, shops, and public spaces, engaging with locals and responding to modest objectives tied to everyday survival. Tasks such as searching for medicine, speaking with residents, or simply finding one’s way through the town feel intentionally mundane, reinforcing the game’s commitment to realism. There are no enemies to defeat or puzzles to solve in the traditional sense; instead, progress comes from observation, patience, and attentiveness to small details. This approach creates an experience that feels closer to an interactive slice of life than a conventional adventure, inviting players to exist within the space rather than conquer it. Narratively, Motherland unfolds through fragments rather than structured storytelling. Conversations are sparse, often understated, and sometimes emotionally distant, mirroring the guarded behavior of people living under prolonged stress. Characters do not deliver dramatic monologues or clearly defined arcs; instead, their personalities and struggles emerge subtly through tone, pauses, and environmental context. This restrained storytelling allows players to project their own interpretations onto the events unfolding around them. The sense of being an outsider—both culturally and emotionally—is ever-present, reinforcing themes of displacement, loneliness, and quiet resilience. Visually, the game adopts a muted, almost bleak aesthetic that serves its thematic goals well. Buildings appear worn and unremarkable, interiors feel cramped and lived-in, and outdoor environments are often drenched in dull light or overcast skies. Rather than striving for visual spectacle, the art direction emphasizes authenticity and atmosphere. This visual restraint can feel monotonous at times, but it also grounds the experience in a believable reality that supports the narrative’s emotional tone. Sound design plays a critical role here as well, with ambient noises, distant voices, and moments of silence contributing heavily to the game’s immersive quality. Pacing is deliberately slow, and this is where Motherland proves most divisive. The game asks players to move at its own rhythm, often without clear guidance or immediate payoff. For some, this creates a meditative experience that encourages reflection and immersion. For others, the lack of direction, challenge, or escalation may feel frustrating or uneventful. The game rarely explains itself explicitly, and players are expected to infer meaning through context rather than exposition. This design choice reinforces the themes of uncertainty and stagnation but requires patience and a willingness to engage on the game’s terms. Overall, Motherland is a deeply atmospheric and unconventional experience that prioritizes emotional resonance over entertainment in the traditional sense. It is not designed to thrill or challenge, but to quietly observe and reflect on life under constraint, isolation, and quiet hardship. Players who enjoy slow-paced walking simulators, grounded storytelling, and contemplative exploration will likely find value in its subdued approach. Those seeking structure, action, or clear narrative progression may struggle to connect with its intent. As an artistic statement rather than a traditional game, Motherland stands as a thoughtful, melancholic portrait of everyday life shaped by crisis, offering an experience that lingers more in feeling than in memory of events. Эта игра заставила меня задуматься о том, как мало я хожу. Величайший симулятор добропорядочного гражданина, который старается привиться во благо страны. Our elephant.
