As of right now, it isn't very fun. The gameplay is very dull and boring, and there is little in the way of difficulty. The powerups, pets, hats, etc. mean basically nothing because the game is so easy. The characters are very slow, there are few obstacles, all the enemies are carbon copies with different stats, absolutely no sense of AI; all these problems make the game a chore to walk through. I can look past the lack of tutorial since it is in Early Access, but really, the gameplay needs to be more intuitive and fluid. I would suggest that the developer try other rougelikes, (something like Enter the Gungeon or Binding of Isaac) and see how their gameplay stacks up to this. The text is not very intuitive, which makes it really hard to follow along with anything that is happening. It's hard to tell what any of the powerups really do, aside from the few which make the game harder to play. (double shot) There is very little feedback in general, and combined with the similar enemies and environments repeating for several floors, it feels like a neverending cycle of confusion and disappointment. Even worse, the music is very annoying and the sound effects are absurdly loud... All in all, the game seems rather crude, as if not a lot of thought was put into it. As it stands now, I wouldn't recommend this game. I really hope the developer reconsiders their priorities; reading through the Early Access section, they seem mostly focused on adding new features and powerups, and seems relatively unconcerned with the more pressing flaws of the game. I look forward to seeing what this game can become! (Also, it's spelled "defense", not "deffense")
Moshcave is a sincerely, but very badly made Early Access 2D top down retro pixel wave survival shooter. Gameplay consists of running around a small top down arena and blasting waves of enemies. There's a simple upgrade/level system to the game that adds a small progression element, but not enough to save the game for the deplorably weak premise and even worse technical implementation. The game is still being developed, but development is slow enough that the game appears to be headed to Development Hell. While there's still time before the game reaches the developers committed deadline to complete the game, it's only getting very small updates every week or so and hasn't been updated in over a month. There's no reliable indication the game will ever be completed, which is another reason for gamers to avoid this. It's important to remember that only about 25% of Early Access games ever get completed... the vast majority of Early Access games are abandoned and all money taken from gamers is never refunded. Early Access games are a huge risk and in general should be avoided. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. That's right, only 2. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason. Moshcave is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Note: Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not count towards your Game Collector counts, achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Playthrough here: https://youtu.be/PxiJhqDkktM I actually really enjoyed this game the upgrades make you feel pretty op which is always important in an action roguelike. I love that the game sticks to the mosh motif as you can fight to be closer to the band and the music gets louder depending how close you are to them and man oh man when the lead singer comes out to join the crowd it becomes wild. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about at like floor 14 the game starts ramping up in difficulty continuously probably explains why he played it approximately 6 minutes. It could definitely be improved on with achievements, graphics, Full Screen and possibly more copyright free songs as you advance floors. The game is already definitely worth the price already.
Abandoned game

16 months since last update

Changing to THUMBS DOWN. Game will never get made. Below was my original review with original edits, as written.
----- I paid $0.34 and that's fine. It is an EARLY ACCESS game which is fine, so nobody should expect much because at the time of this review the game is v0.1 I'm neither going to give this an exhaustive review, nor am I going to tear it apart. I liked the simple but clear graphics. I like the simple enemies. I thought the chippy music was cute. I liked the upgrade system. Room for immediate improvement: More music would be nice. More tile graphic variety, and/or room accents as well. Different enemy behavior (some should jump, wait, run away, chase, pattern, etc). Some actual strategy required of the player, not just kite & shoot. Needs a ton of work, but for an Alpha this is quite good. Keep my small amount of money and keep going Dev! Looking good so far. edit: Saw the dev promoting on reddit, meanwhile the game hasn't been updated in 66 days. Changing this to DO NOT RECOMMEND because clearly this game will never get made. edit2: Ok, so the dev did make an update! I will keep watching, and if there is a future update I will buy it again.
cute game i really like it hehe i became big fan of this dev work making atari like games
Its ok. This isn't as great as Jurassic Fantasy, but it is fun for a short while
o jogo é bom mas precisa melhorar em varias coisas
A fun little roguelike for 99 cents Health regen is way unbalanced, you can easily attain a state of invincibility which makes fighting the hordes of monsters feel a little pointless, theres no sense of a threat coming from the horde or from discovering a new enemy. Also the level up screen just kind of pops up with no warning, which kinda interrupts the flow of the gameplay. Has some framedrops when a new floor loads. Other than these things its a neat little game, but it's a little too easy.
