Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X is one of those fighting games that manages to be completely ridiculous and incredibly fun at the same time. It has everything you'd expect from Mortal Kombat: a huge roster, brutal-looking combat, crazy characters and enough content to keep you playing for a long time. The combat is probably my favourite part. The game feels fast and aggressive, and every character has their own moves and playstyle. The addition of different variations for characters was a really cool idea because it gives you different ways to play the same fighter. Learning combos and eventually being able to pull them off consistently feels extremely satisfying. The story mode is also pretty entertaining. It has plenty of cinematic moments mixed with fights, and there are loads of familiar characters alongside some newer ones. It definitely has that over-the-top Mortal Kombat style where things can get completely ridiculous, but that's part of the fun. The Krypt is another feature I enjoyed. Exploring it and unlocking different rewards gives you something to do outside of regular matches, although some of the grinding can get a little repetitive. The biggest downside for me is that the game can be pretty difficult when you're first learning it. Online matches can also be rough when you go up against someone who has mastered their character and knows every combo. Overall, MKX is a fantastic fighting game. It has satisfying combat, a good selection of characters and plenty of content. 9/10 — Recommended. If you enjoy fighting games, Mortal Kombat or just beating your friends and immediately blaming the controller when you lose, MKX is definitely worth playing.
