Monuments of Mars
É uma experiência divertida, mas é prejudicado por alguns bugs e pela falta de uma trilha sonora. Para aqueles que jogaram nos anos 90, o jogo pode ter algum valor nostálgico, mas para mim, não foi uma experiência que valeu a pena.
Nota: 5/10
Imagine this: There is a slope down in front of you and a pit to jump over all while there is a low ceiling. It's one of those games where your hero falls by steps when walking down slopes instead of acting properly. And he also falls like a brick as soon as he hits ceiling. Actually, he does so even when taking pickup. Would you enjoy jumping over the pit? Chances are, you will DIE. I mean, it's already quite a "classic DOS platformer" that is more of puzzle with infinite lives and limites shots that carry between levels where you may get stuck. A thing of it's time. No good story, no good graphics, no music, so no art enjoyment, aha. But on top of that it features FAST engine where the collision is out of whack, with main hero physics and interaction with level geometry being nothing shot of offending. It really is trying to place you correctly over the game field. But it's not very good at it. So you slightly sink here and there and miss the jumps. Yea, it's a game so classic you can get stuck in a wall without speedrunning skills. Also, based on fake science book. Take that!

It’s the better platformer from the CGA DOS games of that era from Apogee compare to Arctic Adventure and Pharaoh Tomb. Although the movement is a little bit choppy, the gameplay is still pretty fun and more forgiving since the hitboxes are far better (Again, compare to Arctic Adventure and Pharaoh Tomb). You will have 5 episodes with each one of them having 20 levels to complete, where each chapter will take you at most 30-40 minutes to complete. A little tip for those who new to the game: Make sure to save at the start of each level since you can get stuck on certain levels so you will have the option to restart that specific level. Also save your ammo for levels where you have to shoot some enemies in order to progress since the levels sometime won’t provide you enough.
Got stuck in first hole after like 3 seconds of gameplay 1/10
In "Monuments of Mars" you explore the red planet in order to find out what happened to former astronauts not coming back from their mission. This game from 1991 is an Apogee title I did NOT play during my childhood (I played a lot of Apogee games) so 31 year old-me experienced this crude-looking mars mission first-time. Every screen you enter and leave is its own level. So you have to make your way to the exit but every level gets a bit more challenging. Either its aliens, laser guns shooting at you, other lasers (or electricity, it depends), spikes or other traps, you should survive it all. And also think your way out in order to open closed gates or use moving platforms wisely. And that's pretty much it. And the control is very basic and easy, so no complaint about that. Sure, it looks very dated and barely even has sound but if you like playing games like this one for nostalgia and don't feel bothered by all this you can get some nostalgic, cool sci-fi entertainment out of this.
If it's not nostalgia trip or checking gaming history for you don't play it, it can barely be called game by today standards :)
Monuments of Mars plays somehow /somewhat like "Pharaoh's Tomb" - just better since its..."playable". So you can give this game sure a try and should avoid Pharaoh's Tomb, if you are going to play Monuments of Mars. The Hitboxes are better, the riddles more fun and the gameplay itself doesnt feel "that bad". Still Nowadays more or less a "Timewaister" and you should maybe play it only for the "retro" feeling since its aged badly...
Платформер с лёгкими головоломками. Интересный и простой игровой процесс. Прошёл с удовольствием.
This game is actually enjoyable but no background music and: No shots left = no progress. Some levels actually require you to have shots left but they wont give you any so unless you saved some, youre screwed.
One of my all time favorite Windows 3.1 games. Still love it today!
