Miskatonic is a fantastical VR shooter game. The game will transport the player visually, as well as through their senses, while also navigating a meaningful narrative of the magical world of Miskatonic University.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.

"MISKATONIC" is another case of an amateur developer exhuming the corpse of HP Lovecraft to abuse a public domain IP because they lack any creativity of their own. In this case they never actually read any HP Lovecraft because names aside this has nothing to do with his works. It's just a pointless VR tech demo, a wave survival shooter so bland the developer couldn't even work out how to do locomotion in VR so you're stuck in one spot. It's hard to put it words just how incredibly lame this is. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. What do you do in the game? Wave survival shooting from a static position. Even Time Crisis had a better deal going on in the 1990's arcades. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. I didn't have to pay for this, but I still feel like I got scammed.

What an absolutely horrible "game". The "game" looks like it's from 1980 but was apparently released in 2021?? I think the devs need to look at what is "current gen" and re-evaluate. Besides the barren landscapes and low quality textures, the game itself is very choppy, the audio is poor, and the "experience" is honestly pathetic. Nobody can even pronounce your "magical words" and attempting to pronounce them makes you feel like an idiot. I understand this game is free, but honestly - quit while you are ahead. There is nothing here, just like your movies.
Yes its free so credit where credit is due. I couldnt pronounce or figure out how to say the spells in the toutorial so I could only cast the levitate one. Couldnt really go far with that. So maybe shorter words than longish ones to get the sounds right?
