The game, as it is right now, has my positive review. And I highly doubt it will get worse rather than better. It has a lot of potential; the hours fly by while I'm playing. It's a bit like XCOM (but with its own personality). Seeing so many stats or so much text might be intimidating, but if you take it easy at the beginning, you'll understand everything pretty quickly. CHANGES I'd personally like: - Being able to change promotion points as I want. It's a pain to realize after a long time that you've made a promotion and want to change it. You have to demote the character many times and lose a ton of points that take a long time to grind or that you could spend on other characters. I want to be able to experiment and make different builds if I don't like something. I don't want to feel forced to stick with something I realize I don't want. - I feel the same way about spaceship points as I do about promotion points; I'd like to be able to change them at will. - Unlocking characters: I understand that if we could choose from all the existing characters, I suppose most of us would always choose the same ones. But I also don't like that the seed forces them to appear in a certain order, giving me the ones I might like last. This takes many hours while I unlock the characters I like least or don't feel like using, and I only use them while unlocking the ones I do want (At this point, I also don't want to spend my advancement points, because when there's a character I like, I want to spend them on them; if I spent them on the ones I don't like, it would be a total waste). I'd like it if, each time I can unlock one, it gave me a choice between three characters or something like that, or let me choose how many stars it is... I don't know, something different from how it is right now. - Orbital attacks and things like that: I feel that the three-turn wait is too long. Most of the time, by the time I have them available, I no longer need them, so in the end, I ignore them and don't pay much attention to them. I'd prefer it to be two turns, and with the upgrade, only one, or that I didn't have to wait and it only had one use, or instead of waiting, that I could only use one of all the upgrades I have per mission. Something like that seems better to me than waiting three turns. - I'm not a big fan of characters whose upgrades depend on taking damage; I feel like I'm not playing the game very well that way. On the other hand, I love the ones that upgrade as the missions progress. - I feel like the store is very repetitive, and when I want something it's extremely expensive and I end up buying almost nothing. - Grenades, with the exception of the smoke grenade which is the most useful, are almost anecdotal; you almost never have the opportunity to use any because they are thrown 3 squares away, that is, practically in melee. I have sometimes been able to use an anti-tank grenade and only because I knew it would do more damage than an RPG. Those are all my personal opinions about the things I like least about the game. Good luck to the devs and enjoy the game, it's worth it.
what is the point of having cover if enemy can just shoot thru everything and kill my squads like its nothing?
already very good could use more variation in missions and/or the non-fighting part between missions. Does not yet do a good job of hiding that its just one randomly generated mission after the next.
Excellent so far. Can't wait for this to become a complete work of art.
This game is easy to dump some time into and have fun. Really nails the tactical genre and fits nicely into a "Company of Heroes but turn-based" sort of vibe almost. The gameplay loop is engaging for an XCOM fan. Definitely still some Early Access stuff to work out and there could be more fleshing out on some things but the core gameplay is strong!
Looks promising so far, altough normal difficulty lowkey lacks challenge and a level higher difficulty is too hard, sometimes impossible or even unfair
1st impression: love it ! and its so refreshing to see an early access title with zero critical bugs or performance issues - feels like a 1.0 release already! keep up the good work!
Even in this early phase the game is very addicting and absolutely worth getting.
Great turn-based tactics in early access. Core gameplay loop is a little repetitive and very progression-oriented, meaning there isn't that much more to do than upgrade your squads. If max Authority was possible to increase in the long run, more squad leaders could be hired, resulting in less repetitive missions over longer periods. It's going to be interesting to see how the narrative and progression systems expand from what is available in early access version.
really fun
