The first turn based top down strategy game to make me want to explore the genre and feel excited for more games like it.
Awesome game, Highly reccomend.
I very good start of a game. Can't wait to see the final product.
It's now already very good, go get it.
Just epic!
At this current version of the game, i cannot recommend this. As someone who played 30 hours of the demo, i find the early access version to be extremely slow, artificially punishing, and simply not fun. i have about 10 hours in the game and have restarted my campaign 5 different times. I play on challenging difficulty because there is simply not enough enemies to make the game fun on normal difficulty. I'm talking like you might have 3 enemies per map, and you spend most of your time playing hide and seek rather than actually playing the damn game, and that's bc they are coded to retreat when they are outnumbered and outgunned. This brings me to my first point which is that the game is extremely difficult and much of that has to do with lazy randomly generated missions and maps. it's totally fine to have randomly generated content in your game, but it's lazy when you don't even curate the content to ensure playability with the standards that you set for players yourselves. The side quests are neigh impossible to complete even if you are kitted out, many of the "complete the mission in 10 turns" and the "80% of civilians must survive" are impossible to complete even if you are sprinting at max speed with every move order. The defense missions are still crazy overtuned and most of that has to do with suppression doing very little in the designated area you provided. The early game is a GRIND, it's brutal, and it's not fun. In the demo you start off with an array of gear, why tf did this not carry over into early access? there needs to be a toggle when starting campaign that allows you to pick a few guns to get your guys started. I totally understand that you want the game to be hard, but did you EVER consider that you might want to make it FUN?? I made a suggestion in your forum on DC about adding thermal goggles, so you can actually shoot thru smoke if a target is designated. Not sure if that ever got implemented, someone who is further into the game please let me know. The iteration of smoke that i had played was very underwhelming and shielded enemies far more than it helped your own guys. i was running a whole squad geared for smoking and designating targets, yet they would still be "?" every time they stepped into the smoke 1 square away, it makes no sense. One final grip i have about the game is WHY TF CANT MY GUYS GET INTO A VEHICLE IF THEY ARE PINNED? Please explain the thought process behind not being able to crawl into an APC which folds out a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ramp. THE WHOOLE DAMN REASON I PUT THE CAR THERE WAS TO GET THEM OUTTA THAT ♥♥♥♥♥♥ SITUATION... HELLO? I want to like this game so badly, i LOVED the demo, sadly the main game pales in comparison to the fun i had back then. I just wish you guys didn't listen to all the sycophants in your DC pushing you to make a harder and harder game. most of those people are editing save files and save scumming their way to victory anyways, which is totally fine it's a single player game, but make a game that the average person find fun and not these cheating losers that just get their power fantasy cheating in a single player game. Like bro, game shark was SO FUN when i was 10 years old, grow tf up.
It does wargames right, unlike some other examples (cough cough, 40k, cough cough).
