Something incredible is happening in this unique adventure! Max just drew a terrifying monster with his new marker and now it's alive and wreaking havoc in his drawings! He doesn't have any choice but to stop the monster if he wants to save his pictures.

short version: i highly recommend this game for younger players and/or on discounts longer version: by looking at the screen shots you can see what the concept of the game is. draw things to help the platforming. me and my niece played about 30 hours (one drawing, the other platforming) of this game when she was about 6 and she loved it (as did i :P ). the game ran smoothly and i don’t recall ever having technical difficulties with this game (at the time, 32bit vista) why are people dissatisfied and or saying this is a kids game? . basic platforming with little depth (not fast and tight like Meat Boy or with power ups like Mario) . the drawing mechanic has little depth. (for the most part you just draw lines to jump on) . i liked the colour pallet, character designs and animation but they clearly set a light fun child friendly mood . basic plot (spoiler alert, max gets a magic marker -.- )
Designed for kids, Max & the Magic Marker is a mess. First of all, a game designed for kids has to control flawlessly. Good luck with that, the game has a noticeable input lag from the beginning, this would turn even the most forgiving child crazy. Add some inaccurate physics to the mix for the messy recipe. Secondly, the levels are so simple and bland, the Magic Marker is nothing more than a gimmick, most of the time you are supposed to do what the developers thought it would be the ideal solution, so no creativity rewards. Draw what you want, it won't work 90% of the time. Honorable mentions to the repetitive and horrible music, which cannot be turned off. If my parents had bought me this game as a kid, I would have thought that they wanted to punish me.
fun
Average game filled with annoying glitches. Mechanics are so twitchy in this...
Really awesome concept and a fun title regardless of the kiddy nature. Do me a favor, do it, do it.
Lovely game, heart warming, original game mechanics, most certainly leaved a good mark on my childhood! Recommended 8/10.
