Best arenafps atm ! with unreal tournament spirit's ! this game is so goooooood ! i played it since 2018 ( pre-alpha ) and i play some tournaments in normal weapons, ctf, instagib ! if you like UT2k4 and co, u will like this game !
a good made UNREAL/QUAKE clone. + GOOD LEVEL DESIGN + GOOD DESIGNED MENU + DIFFERENT PLAY MODI - CONTROLLING IS TO GENEROUS - even if you hit beside the opponent sometimes it counts. - CONTROLLING FEEL VERY SLOW AND NOT ACURATE ON SPOT. - i shot a guys head (im experienced shooter player and also played unreal 3 in past) and even if aim and should hit the head the shot doesnt count and i end up dead instead. this game got a lot potential and in the new lagg of deathmatch shooters, this one could become a diamond. but please change the controlling and correct these generous hitbox that make people hit if they not even hit right.

This is the ONLY game I've ever reviewed. Let that stand as it is. Is it janky? Yes. Is it buggy? Eh kinda, nothing game breaking though. Do the weapons feel nice. Hell yes. Does the game have the best movement system of any arena shooter I've ever played. Yes. Yes it does. If you are on the ground at ANY point other than to pick up a weapon you are playing this wrong. You can play an entire match on the walls all the while gaining massive speed and bunny-hopping through pickups. There are no limits to the movement of this game. If you can see it, you can move off of it. You can wall dodge then jump THREE TIMES in the air then wall dodge again and repeat. Its insane and so fluid once you get the hang of it. The movment tutorial video is not very good for this game. I recommend just spending an hour learning the ins and outs of the movement system in a private server by yourself. You'll be fragging in no time. Insane movement. Chunky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapons that feel amazing. The Game slaps. The end. Play it. *Make sure to enable inverse wall dodge logic in the settings menu*
Master Arena is an Unreal successor very much in the spirit of unreal with similar movement mechanics. most indie afps are quake clones so if you like unreal its worth checking out
To sum it up: The best arena shooter in a long period of time, everything is done perfectly, bringing unreal tournaments best moments together with the best things, which made quake so addictive, movement possibiliets are brilliant, playing the maps smoothly to the gallery + the workshop support, which is perfectly integrated into the game, is the cherry on the cake. Thumbs Up !
I played this game and I admit it was fun, but it has some issues, the biggest one I experienced is spawn camping in certain modes. People will just camp at the spawn and accumulate kills to win the round and everyone just seems to be fighting over these spots on the map. I believe the game has potential and in the future it may be worth the purchase, but as it's an alpha at the moment I can't say the price is worth it at the moment. I did like the UT feeling it gave me and I would be interested in trying it again once it's moved out of early access. EDIT: Since the game has been reduced £8 I have repurchased the game because I believe it is worth it.
THERE ARE 3 TYPES OF PERSPECTIVES FOR THESE TYPE OF GAMES: 1. (most common one) : People that have most likely played triple AAA shooters ONLY ex: warzone, cs go, valorant, apex, etc... and therefor, they expect the same amount of content and polishness that they have always been used to, leading to a negative first impression, play time of less than an hour, and leaving a negative review without even mastering or at least learn/understand the core mechanics of the game. Oh! and they call it "dead" too, not knowing that with arena shooters, you most likely want and need to join the official discord to play with the small community, in case, you don't have friends to play with. 2. Unreal Tournament / Quake die-hard fans that expect the game to be 100% like those, but better and modern of course. Again, leaving a negative review with little play time. 3. Arena FPS and movement shooter fans (like myself) that always seek for unique experiences that combine fun elements from previous shooters but also understands the context of the development team, which consist of a tighter budget to work and promote (market) the game, but nonetheless, dream BIG! NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE GAME ITSELF: To me, and many others, it combines the best gameplay elements and also the coolest guns from QUAKE & UNREAL TOURNAMENT, you can rocket jump like in quake and use a shock rifle like in UT, for example. WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE: EASY! Besides the combination of weapons and movements from the previous games I mentioned, it also offers multiple wall jumps, Super High jump, etc.. unique maps, and perks (abilities). Not everything is perfect though, and from my personal point of view, MASTER ARENA CAN BENEFIT EVEN MORE BY: - Fixing all the bugs mentioned in the discord channel. - Dodging with SHIFT should feel the same in terms of speed and how far you dodge like when double tapping A or D (most people will use SHIFT to dodge and everyone wants the game to feel fast). - Add Elimination (Clan Arena) Mode. ( This is one of the most popular modes in ARENA FPS games ). - Add All the existing maps previously made to the official servers (when fully compatible to this new version of the game), it adds more content, value and a better general experience. - Playable workshop maps, it seems like the current ones are not compatible at this moment. - Sniper, one of the coolest and most useful weapons in most ARENA FPS can improve it's design, and personally I would just re-work the tip (where the bullets come out) is quite big and looks weird. - More maps ( would be nice to see more environment and color variation, many of the official DM maps look like space stations ). I HOPE THIS REVIEW WAS USEFUL, THE DEVS HAVE WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF AND I CAN ONLY WISH THE BEST FOR THEM, THE GAME, AND US THE PLAYERS. Discord: https://discord.gg/HFB2xaRG
I've played for a few hours. Even if it's in early access, the game content is very nice. This game is kind of an evolution of UT2004. I love it!

It's one of the better efforts to capture what was good about the abandoned Unreal Tournament, but it falls short. The controls and combat are clunky and slow. So, it really lacks that fast paced arena feel. The bots are kinda dumb, even on higher settings. The limitations on keybindings are frustrating. Some settings in the menu don't even work. Without tighter gun play and better movement, the gameplay just doesn't satisfy the itch. It's not enough to look good if the gameplay isn't there, especially in this type of game. Which, on the positive side, things do look pretty good. Even with mediocre gameplay, I'd have probably kept it installed just to make maps. Unfortunately, that feature is missing. I haven't been able to find a way to enable the option to "Play Unreal Editor for Master Arena", as shown on the website. Without map making, this game (and frankly, most arena shooters) aren't worth much to me. However, good gameplay is a good start. And that's worth noting, for this game and anyone else making an arena shooter. So, consider the following my PSA to any dev who wants to make or already has a flailing arena shooter. --- I've seen it written and heard it said, "no one wants to play arena shooters anymore", but that's crap. Players just want good shooters! With this type of game, as hard as it is to hear, most developers just aren't doing a good job. UT and Quake aren't perfect games. In my view, they don't even set the bar extremely high, so it's frustrating that so many games seem to fall short. An arena shooter needs snappy, responsive movement, a good range of customization settings, a good range of mods/mutators (controllable game speed is one that's usually missing outside of UT), and sensible, responsive, consistent gun play. In the rare instance someone comes along and does a decent job with the gameplay - like Toxikk, for example - they fudge it on the community side. Toxikk is a pretty good game, and it satisfies the UT itch pretty decently. However, without a map editor and community made maps, Toxikk doesn't have any staying power. Toxikk doesn't have a particularly large set of maps, but even if they had more, sometimes it's the lack of variety in style and design methodology that gets stale. When it comes to arena shooters, NONE of these games will ever have any staying power without a good quality map editor - like the one that is supposed to exist for this game. Pull all this together, which I think is a reasonable ask, and it will be obvious there's a plenty large enough player base for a successful arena shooter. The audience is there. They're just waiting for a better game. ---
