[strike] Was fun, but i'm getting some gamebreaking bug. Everytime i'm starting to ramp up. I get stuck in the chest. Can't press exit no matter what, if i have money to buy upgrades or don't. can't do anything. Can't exit the chest so have to alt f4 and lose everything. Happened TWICE. [/strike] FIXED. And I beat the game without any upgrades? The monsters stopped spawning after a good while. was way too easy with the bow. The game is clearly an Alpha at best, way too little content.
A cute and fast-paced roguelite where you battle waves of enemies, gather hay, and upgrade your farm. The pixel art is charming, and the gameplay loop is satisfying, though content variety is still limited in this early version. A fun start with good potential. - Rating: – 7.5/10 - Video Gameplay - https://youtu.be/3yCSBlZXU-8 - Follow my curator page - https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45547027/
good but make some enemies are way too fast, upgrades are way too expensive and the game is overall very hard and grindy. Still a great game tho!
This game is very fun overall but it needs some polishing. Easy to learn and play
Initial Observations:

Arena based fighting area rather than an "endless" map. Enemy swarms aren't as aggressive over time like they are in most survivor-likes. Enemies appear to have more HP over time, but their visual attributes don't change (i.e. color/size) like you might see in other survivor-likes. Limited to being able to hold two weapons in total (out of 3 unique ones). Can equip two of the same type though. +Magic Damage upgrade only costing 8 hay is a little unbalanced. Very easy to overtune damage from the wand to basically one shot the majority of enemies you encounter. The ranged and melee damage upgrades are more expensive. The hit registry on the player is almost non-existent. If you don't pay attention to the health bar in the top left, it's difficult to tell that you've taken damage. Got to a point in the run where enemies stopped spawning. Not sure if that's intended. Can leave the maps at will and bring back any "Hay" you haven't used to spend on the farm. So there's a balance between how much you want to invest hay into your character vs. bring back to spend as currency. Looks like the crops that you can grow will give your weapon a specific effect depending on which one you pick. The first one I grew gave a chaining effect to projectiles. Mix that with upgraded dual wands and you got yourself a setup that melts enemies. Unlike normal survivor-likes, you don't want to just immediately grab the chests. They don't provide free upgrades for selection, but rather provide the player with an opportunity to purchase upgrades. Since they respawn on the map frequently, it's easy to see one and not have the currency to buy anything. So there's no point in essentially wasting a shop refresh by grabbing them. Better to wait until you're ready to buy. NOTE - Because of how this works, the player essentially gets an infinite number of free restocks, as your restock count resets every time you get a new chest. So don't be afraid to use them thinking they will run out eventually. The game also has slight extraction style vibes since you can technically portal out back to base whenever you want and take your current currency back to spend it. This means you don't really need to "win" the run to come back with a nice stack of hay to spend. It's more about figuring out the sweet spot of how much hay to invest in your build so you farm up the most hay per minute spent in the run.

Thoughts on Improvements:

Include boss fights? Or maybe even elite enemies? Let the player see the effect of the crops they are growing prior to growing them. Right now the only way to tell is right before you go into a run. Allow the player to select different animals other than just the goat. Perhaps with different stats or associated special weapon. Felt weird not having a dash ability, but honestly, I didn't really end up needing one given how easy it is to incrementally stack lifesteal and HP regen. If the game ever beefs up the difficulty though, including a dash would be a great call. The range upgrade (carrot) does not appear to be working. After purchasing it 32 times, I didn't notice any significant improvement in how far away I could be from enemies before triggering a ranged attack. Something feels off about the sword. It's cool because it does damage on hit and if it just touches an enemy when you aren't swinging it. However, since it only attacks to one side and that side doesn't change when the player moves, it becomes quite awkward trying to stay in position to do damage against incoming enemies from multiple angles. Add that to the fact that the swing arc is quite short and the range isn't all that great, in practice is feels more like a liability to use it in comparison to the ranged options.

Overall, Magical Animal Farm appears to be an interesting take on the survivor-like formula. If it continues to get updates it could perhaps turn into something special.
gets boring real quick
