Craft spell cards, collect new effects, and build the perfect deck as you fight through rounds of turn-based combat. Survive randomly-generated dungeon layouts by countering enemy attacks with your own spells, and make the most of the powers and scrolls you pick up along the way.

About
Magecraft: Spellbuilding is a deckbuilder with a focus on crafting your own spell cards and creating unique decks to take with you into the turn-based combat of the Dungeons.
While you have control over the cards you start with, the randomized Dungeon layouts, enemy encounters, passive powers, and scrolls ensure that no two runs are the same.

Take on enemy attacks, destroying them to keep yourself safe from harm - or take the hit and attack enemies directly to do as much damage as possible.

Fight your way through three distinct, themed dungeons, each with its own sets of enemies to defeat, powers and scrolls to collect, and events with with different choices to make.

Combine over 50 Sigils - with effects that deal damage, inflict debuffs, grant buffs, summon allies, and more - to craft custom spell cards for your deck.

Choose between a variety of appearances, color palettes, and unique Background powers when creating a character - and unlock new character colors to change into, as well as new characters with powerful abilities.

The Abyss is a separate mode with randomized characters and starting decks, where unlike the main game, dying means starting a new run from the very beginning.

its fun (cant believe it has a demo despite being free) bit broken what combos can work though especially in hardmode but still fun u can challenge urself by picking certain spells only for roleplay if u want to
The game likes to crash when I mess with fullscreen settings. I also ran in circles for over an hour on the third level because the sewer for extra HP wouldn't spawn. Otherwise its a very fun game with lots of good deckbuilding options.
Good for several hours. Doesn't feel that you need to grind to advance in new tries.

What a little hidden gem. A free game with so much complexity. Already spent 10 hours in it and I can see there is so much more to unlock and so many synergies to explore. Kudos to the devs.
loved it
Very fun deckbuilding roguelite, with many classes and character designs to choose from. Give it a try!
Wonderful deckbuilder, especially loved using poisoned and charged attacks. buffs and debuff system is nicely implemented. Bit of a nitpick but mushrooms being the only debuff with self animation is interesting. Different backgrounds really add to the fights, and amount of content whether enemys, bosses, creatable spells is really satisfying. Only, I expected to see rare or legendary cards somewhere else too instead of just while pulling new cards during a run. maybe they might've been used in other chars, which is my next point. At the beginning, the game throws too many characters at the player. Since there’s already a lot of content, having to read through large chunks of text before even getting in the game feels overwhelming and slows down the onboarding. Since I liked the game I'd love to try other chars too, but it still pushed me at the start. I also couldn’t figure out how encounters with different mini/bosses are triggered. If it’s purely random, it might take too long to experience the full variety. I loved the battle table and how it is sometimes used as a metaphorical animation like, spider opening venom - biting - closing, or trex first gaining shield and then attacking with it. also the choice at the end feels too sudden, maybe if we could choose who to beat at previous dungeons, that affecting our final desicion might feel good. Hope everything i said is clear, thanks for reading.
This is a good game, just in general. But for it to be FREE! What in the world! I have over 40 hours in this game and plan to spend many more, almost got all the achievements. I suggest doing a test run just to figure out how it works, and then jump into hard mode for better difficulty scaling.
Can't believe this game is free, lowkey wish i could pay at least a little bit for it. Insanely well made.
