"Low Batt" is just another student project dumped onto the Steam store, one of thousands. It's from ESAT. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" games, we must still question what value they have for gamers. This isn't a fully fleshed out game. It's the result of an academic exercise and has much more limited value than a professionally developed game. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments. It helps their marketing and makes students feel good, but it puts the business before the needs of gamers. Usually with student projects, the students at least make a game, this time they failed, they couldn't work out how to complete the game so they dumped their unfinished homework assignment onto Steam so they could get their grades without any regard to the harm it causes to the industry when it's flooded with unfinished and abandoned games. When you can't make a complete product, you don't publish it anyway, this is the wrong thing to do... it's abuse of Early Access. You wouldn't buy a car the manufacturer didn't finish making, would you? "I wanted my car to have wheels and an engine." "Well," said the manufacturer, "It's Early Access, no refunds, thanks for the money". Yeah. The students tried and failed to make a top down shooter. I suppose ESAT probably gave them a passing grade anyway. This is not good. The developers gave up on this 1 year and 1 month ago. It's destined to remain unfinished. This junkware is just polluting Steam and making it difficult for gamers to fully finished, completed games. That's not good for gamers. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Next is pricing and what value this has for gamers. It would be unethical for students to try charge money for their homework assignments, so you don't have to pay any money for this. But you'd still have to spend your time downloading this, and "time is money", as they say. There's the other problem, too... as a student project, this wasn't made for gamers. There's no requirement for them to polish and balance the game properly, all they need is something to show the faculty so they can get their grade and move on. Let's once more ask... why is that good for gamers? It's obviously not delivering a solid product. Yet here it is, on the store page, and here you are, reading my review for a student demo that's going to waste your time. While genuine amateur developers who made real products get ignored because they have to compete with this stuff. In some ways, this deluge of student projects on Steam is harmful to everyone. A peak of 3 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Given that this free student project won't count toward your game collection or add any achievements, and because it's not really a full game and more of a homework assignment, it's not a worthwhile download. One final note, there's so many games on Steam, it would be impossible for anyone to play all of them in one lifetime (although I am trying). As gamers, our time is important and we have the luxury of choosing between so many games... but so many of them are so badly made, often unethically through incompetence or greed, so I think it's important for gamers to help each other find the games that deserve our time. If you don't agree with my review here, prove me wrong, download this game and play it for yourself. My reviews are just intended to help gamers make informed choices, and I hope they help you, too.

Beautiful concept, nice game, bad optimization and crashes. Work on the bad parts and you will sell this game, a lot. The music is very nice.

Alright, So this was the third game in my "Play & Review" Series on Youtube. This games voice acting, not great, but good enough. Story, very absent. Performance, Not great. Game play, very repetitive and boring after about 15 minutes. I wanted to be done with the game 20 minutes in. Not really any real mechanics besides dashing. I was looking for a better game but this ended up not being it. only 30 minutes of game play total. "unique and distinct", Is not what I would give this game. The 2 level's given are pretty much identical with a different layout. "Experience nice, polished and creative combat", This is not very creative as top-down shooters have been around for a while. It isn't polished either, controls are wonky and at times displayed the wrong controls. "Use machinery and traps to your advantage", There was no machinery to fight with and the only trap was the mine. "Fight against multiple types of unique enemies", There was only about 7 total types of enemies. Only 2 of them were different from the rest fight wise. The two unique was 1. a melee bot, and 2. a stationary turret. Other than that they were essentially the same just with a different look. As a game dev myself, this could have been done in 2 weeks by myself and the fact it took 9 months is confusing.
great game but had a fatal error 40 minutes in.
