Look Outside

This game really is something special. It never lets you forget for a second that each character is (or "was," if that helps you sleep at night) a real person, with a whole lived experience. The emotional lows are devastating and the high points are wonderful, but there's equally just as many moments that are just funny (forgetting to shower, rotting on your couch gaming, others that'd be spoilers). It really is best experienced blind, but there's such variety in what characters you may encounter & what areas you'll reach that you can watch a playthrough and still come away with a whole different experience you can call your own. The fact that this game is just 10 bucks (*six dollars* on sale) is absolutely unreal. The amount of high-quality content you're getting is frankly a steal. I've heard it compared to Undertale a lot, and... not really, the stories and themes are very different, but you can feel the love the developer had for what he was making in both games. Also, the OST is un-f***ing-believable, holy s***. I've only gone out of my way to buy a game's OST 6 times (and 4 of those times were for the Hotline Miami series and Hollow Knight/Silksong), but this game's absolutely earned it. Look Outside is 100% the game of the year for me. It checks all the boxes. Gorgeous art (well horrific, but gorgeously done), excellent story, and fun gameplay. I love cosmic horror and this is chock-full of it and that's impressive since effective cosmic horror is one of the hardest things to accomplish (how would you present the viewer with horror beyond comprehension? it is not easy). 5/5, hell, 10/5. 100/5? doesn't matter, numbers are stupid. Its great. Play it.

It's like if Undertale was introduced to body horror. 10/10 would sacrifice my arm for a rat baby again

obsessed with this game lately. its one of the best RPGs to come out in a long time. amazing music, amazing pixelart, amazing humor, amazing themes one of a few games i would reccomend even at full price if nothing else just to support the dev.
