Overhated and great to buy on a sale. This was surprisingly not the worst. It's very fun for the most part. The characters are great, story is decent and gameplay is decently fun. One thing to get out of the way was the weirdly bad graphics, looked worse than 8 for me personally and 8 was very nice. Couldn't figure out why until I went into settings and saw the highest settings used upscaling (fsr2 in my case) I turned it off and it was much better. Not sure if the other games did that. gameplay: The styles are fun on their own but they don't mesh well or smoothly as something like Lost Judgement's styles. The Mad dog style is a mix of the styles from 0, I personally wish it was 0 legend style that was the most fun mad dog has ever been. while Sea dog is unique with a lot of fun stuff to it. The new juggling mechanic is underbaked and jumping is meh, I found myself jumping a bunch when I was trying to sprint since they're on the same button. Minor annoyances. Ship battles: They're mostly great but get kinda boring after a while. Moving in the ship is really slow and sucks but combat is mostly booting, drifting and using your cannons hoping you don't drift too far. There's some neat tech but it's not the most fun to play overall. The ocean maps are really tedious to travel and they set up speed points everywhere and it still feels slow. Most of the minigames and stuff are recycled from 8 which is fine. The story is decent. The amnesia thing is lame and barely developed, just having regular majima would have worked just fine to be honest. The villains are also serviceable but forgettable. There's a guy you fight like 3 or 4 times and I forget he existed until he came back each time. Music: Very good. The new songs for this game are awesome. This game also has scenes with irl women but it's actually pretty funny this time around and not weird and kinda uncomfortable like the Kiryu Gaiden. Def give it a go.
