Weird stuff here. Apparently this game was cancelled because they pivoted to making a roguelike deckbuilder? Which let me just say is extremely stupid, since there are like 10 a day coming out and most people are sick of them. But whatever. The game is a pretty much identical to Kingdom of the dump, minus the great art-style, charm and humor. This game looks corny and the writhing is really boring. But the gameplay is good. Turned based with QTE, I love that kind of combat. I appreciate them releasing what they've made and hopefully one day they can complete this game. But I'm not going to play an incomplete game, even if free. What's the point?
i'm not a big turn based RPG enjoyer. I see a lot of charm in this game. Even if i didn't plan to grind this game it's still unfortunate to hear that they decided not to develop it into a full game because i could see people falling in love with this game. I'm glad they did drop the game for free even if incomplete. The writing is light and silly. The artstyle is fun. Sound effects and animations are satisfying. I only encountered one small bug in my couple hours of playing. I can't seem to find the captain's voyager and gave up. I like how the battles are easy so you can just chill out and run through the game but it would be nice if the fights were a little more challenging. I do recommend this game for gamers who enjoy classic turn based RPG's.
A Glimpse of What Could Have Been
Legends of Starkadia caught my eye when I noticed the developers had released it for free after deciding to abandon it and move on to another project. It's essentially an unfinished story, but I'm glad they released what they had instead of letting it disappear. I absolutely love a good turn-based RPG, and this one has the foundation of a great one. I really hope the developers come back to it someday. Maybe if their current project is successful, they'll revisit Starkadia. The story isn't necessarily anything new, but it's full of charming characters and solid turn-based combat. I definitely recommend giving it a try. It's a fun couple of hours. If you are going to play it then save often! I got stuck between objects twice, and once I softlocked (died to boss and it didn't respawn anymore). Game looks really nice. I'm not a big fan of turn-based combat but I didn't mind it much. Combat is quite simple but there's a significant difficulty spike that will make you consider doing something more than just attack, attack, attack. Took me about 2 hours to beat it. All in all I enjoyed it.
EARLY ACCESS PLZ,
I wish they realease the full game because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did I had fun
It's fine. Obviously this is an incomplete game but I'm not sure it would have the mechanical depth to keep my attention like many of these Paper Mario style games. Having to do the QTEs gets kind of tiresome since they slow down the pace of the combat a lot. A bit bummed to see a pivot from this to yet another roguelike deck builder but I appreciate the devs for making this available to people. Bummer that it doesn't support any resolution higher than 1080p as things were a bit pixelated on my 1440p monitor.
Легкая забавная rpg. Посмотри прохождение: https://youtube.com/live/zJp88pxEKVw
It's a very charming and well made RPG. There is plenty of charm and the mechanics are well developed. It deserves to be more and there are those of us hoping the dev finds support to continue working on this gem.
i enjoy this paper mario style game, it's fun. too bad we wont see the completion of this game. suggestion to dev, maybe make this game as early access, so ppl can support this game while dev finish this game
