Play here: https://youtu.be/L3aKrkg6Jvw short here: https://youtube.com/shorts/iqmTJPZhAGY honestly game is quite fun and super unique it's kinda like a on the rail auto battler where you create a mecha giant cat with lasers. The achievements are easy except for the engineer cat one I'm not sure what exactly needed to be done there to unlock it as I tried making different layer configurations to no avail, but regardless game is still definitely worth the price. There's tons of upgrades and a lot to learn when it comes to the system I struggled for a minute and still didn't master it for efficiency for sure, but was still able to complete and enjoy the game. Edit: creators updated achievement as shown in the comments to make the engineer cat more understandable which makes the game an easy 100% if you're looking for achievements
Laser Battle Cats - travel & destroy! is the kind of indie game that immediately grabs attention simply because of how absurd and imaginative its core idea is. Developed and published by HowDeerYou, the game combines side-scrolling action, light resource management, engineering mechanics, and giant laser-equipped cats into an experience that feels both chaotic and strangely charming. The entire concept revolves around raising kittens, feeding them radioactive milk until they grow into massive battle-ready felines, and attaching customizable laser weapons to their backs before sending them into combat against bizarre enemies. It sounds completely ridiculous, and that over-the-top silliness becomes one of the game’s biggest strengths. The gameplay focuses heavily on experimentation and customization. Players travel through different environments while controlling giant battle cats armed with increasingly destructive laser systems. Combat itself revolves around building and modifying laser mechanisms using batteries, generators, mirrors, and other components that influence how attacks behave during battle. This creates a surprisingly creative gameplay loop where players constantly adjust weapon setups to improve efficiency and deal with tougher enemies. Although the systems are not overwhelmingly complex, they provide enough flexibility to make experimentation enjoyable throughout much of the adventure. What makes the game stand out most is its personality. Nearly every aspect of Laser Battle Cats feels designed to embrace humor and playful absurdity. Watching enormous cats casually destroy enemies with oversized laser cannons never really stops being entertaining because the game fully commits to its bizarre premise. Instead of trying to present itself as serious science fiction or tactical strategy, it leans completely into cartoon chaos. That sense of self-awareness helps the experience remain consistently enjoyable even when the gameplay becomes repetitive. Outside of combat, the game introduces a surprisingly cozy management aspect centered around the player’s workshop and home base. Players can decorate rooms, grow plants, craft useful items, and continue upgrading their cats between missions. These quieter sections help balance the more chaotic action stages by giving players time to relax and prepare for future encounters. There is something oddly satisfying about taking care of giant laser cats while slowly improving the workshop and unlocking additional upgrades. This mix of action and casual management gives the game a more laid-back atmosphere compared to many other arcade-style indie titles. The progression system involving the cats themselves is another enjoyable feature. Different kittens come with unique appearances and statistics, encouraging players to experiment with multiple companions rather than relying on a single favorite. Feeding them radioactive milk to increase their size and power fits perfectly with the game’s strange humor while also providing a rewarding sense of growth. Over time, players begin developing attachments to their oversized feline weapons of destruction, which adds extra charm to the overall experience. Visually, the game uses colorful pixel-art graphics that fit its playful identity extremely well. The environments are vibrant and easy to navigate, while enemy designs remain exaggerated enough to preserve the game’s comedic tone. Combat becomes especially satisfying once weapon systems grow larger and more visually chaotic, filling the screen with massive laser beams and explosions. The retro-inspired presentation gives the game an approachable arcade-like feel that works perfectly for the kind of experience it wants to deliver. The soundtrack and sound design also support the atmosphere effectively. Music remains energetic and upbeat during combat while becoming calmer during workshop management sections. Laser sound effects and mechanical noises provide satisfying feedback, particularly when players create stronger and more elaborate weapon systems later in the game. Although the audio design is relatively simple overall, it helps maintain the game’s lighthearted and quirky identity. Despite its creativity, the game does suffer from repetition over time. Many combat encounters follow similar patterns, and while the customization systems add some variety, the overall gameplay structure does not evolve dramatically as the adventure progresses. Players looking for deep storytelling, advanced tactical systems, or major gameplay twists may eventually feel the experience becomes too predictable. The indie scope of the project is also noticeable in certain animations and environmental details, which occasionally lack polish compared to larger indie releases. Another issue is that some weapon combinations clearly outperform others, which can reduce the incentive to continue experimenting after players discover especially effective builds. Although the game encourages creativity, many players may naturally settle into a few reliable setups rather than constantly trying new ideas. Fortunately, the relaxed and humorous tone prevents this from becoming too frustrating because the experience never feels overly competitive or punishing. Ultimately, Laser Battle Cats - travel & destroy! succeeds because of its originality and charm more than technical depth or polish. The combination of giant customizable battle cats, casual workshop management, colorful side-scrolling action, and ridiculous humor creates an experience that feels refreshingly different from many indie games on Steam. It may not have the content depth or refinement of larger titles, but its creativity and playful energy help it stand out in a crowded indie market. Players who enjoy quirky experiments, light engineering mechanics, and arcade-style gameplay will likely find themselves unexpectedly entertained by this strange but lovable feline adventure. Trzeba powiedzieć, że koty to sprawdzony i dobry koncept na grę. Słodkości tutaj zaznamy w dużej ilości i pomimo wymogu strzelania do innych stworzeń to jednak czujemy mocną więź z naszym wielkim kotem.
