Land Above Sea Below Prologue is an atmospheric first chapter of the building strategy and puzzle game where you have to build your island from tiles in order to raise its height as much as possible, to avoid it getting flooded by the constantly rising sea level.

Had this game demo in my library for a while, decided I’d finally try it. I was both delighted and disappointed. The concept is good for a little puzzle challenge, the graphics beautiful, the music chill. But there was no tutorial so I was left guessing as to what to do and how to do it. Maybe that’s the point, it’s not so complex to learn, but I came away after about 45 min not really quite sure of how to achieve the aims of the game (raising the level of tiles) and how different tiles affect the mechanics of that. I did start to piece it together, but mostly I’m still left confused as to how or why something I did worked. I quite like puzzle games like this, even enjoying greatly tile-laying board games like Dorfromantik and Carcassonne. And yet, I came away feeling Land Above is too simplistic… or at least that the demo offered neither an enticing tutorial or enough challenge to draw me in. Which is as I said, disappointing. To add to this I spent a good five minutes trying to get the game to close as it refused to quit out - even with Alt Tab and Ctrl Alt Del. I have a pretty good gaming PC so not sure what happened there. If I could give a ‘meh’ rating, I would. As it stands I don’t dislike the game, but as it is I am not even tempted to come back and play the free demo again. That’s not a failing on the devs (outside of the aforementioned lack of tutorial) and more a statement that despite the graphics, music and puzzling, it’s just not quite enough for me. You should try it, just don’t expect it to hold your hand on explaining how it works.

When I started this game, it froze and seemed like it was going to crash my PC. (The menu system of this game is not wonderful -- it's clunky to use and looks far from beautiful.) Once I was able to increase the resolution of the game, my eyes hurt less. Part of the reason I tried this game was because it looked aesthetically pleasing, but (in game) the graphics are ugly. The game is based based on cool concepts, but playing through the prologue is quite frustrating. This is in part because the rules are presented terribly, both in the tutorial and in the in-game "Lexicon".
I've tried several times to play just to now the core mechanics... As mostly said here, it is unknown - no help and no tutorial. Seemed to be jsut a random clicker with just few times (at the start) helpful just sticking tiles together. Proposed synergy doesn;t work. Halfly passed to 10 season and halfly failed to do it. Do not recommend. It finally crashed... see ya!!!
It's good
Zbugowany tutorial już w pierwszej lekcji. Dalej nie zamierzam grać.
