4/10 Very bog-standard 3D platformer with overly complicated lore that isn't explained well, unnecessarily annoying jumps (jumping is too low and there isn't a double jump feature), and a reliance on RMB and LMB buttons, which is frustrating as not all computers (specifically laptops) have that- And there's no option for button remapping. This didn't prevent me from beating the game but it did prevent me from doing everything the game had to offer. Some of the characters were kind of interesting, I found the Food Claim screens charming, and the abundance of Ant puns was amusing to me (though they did miss out on the opportunity to say GiANTs). Overall, though, I wouldn't really recommend this, and I'm frankly only ranking it higher than the other freeware games I've played from this company because it wasn't broken in any way and didn't rely on a poorly constructed control scheme. Just classic WASD for this one.

i finished bugsnax two years ago and still think about it regularly (i replaced "love shack" lyrics for "bugsnax" & it's permanently seared into my brain meat now) so now i'm playing the free range games. there's a lot of heart in these, they're silly quick games. the team knows a lot about ant politics. this game makes me wish i could make games.
aw what so silly for....... love...
completed within 30 mins, for a free game would be nice to have multiple levels otherwise it pretty much feels like a demo rather then a game, took about 10 mins into the game to start enjoying it but shortly after that i compleated it
well first of all it's a free tech demo, so you'll lose nothing but like half an hour from playing it. I had fun with it! it also has a bugsnax reference (or 2. or 3?) so that was very fun to see! i like the little bits of worldbuilding too, i wouldn't mind a bigger version of this game that expanded on it. fun game!
"It's time for a Bug Snack" 100/10 pure poetry
bugs want to eat snacks. probably idk
Yes, it's free. Yes, it's a tech demo. Yes, it has a fun premise. I still don't think it's worth playing due to its poor controls, awkward camera, and slow protagonist.
Charming little game. It only takes a few minutes to get everything if you know where to go. The bugsnax music after every big food claimed was great. Really reminds me that I want more of that and hope these guys have a good sequel cooking up as that was my first PS5 game that left a great impression besides the pack in Astrobot game. A few extra abilities would be cool to explore as some ants have wings irl so a gliding section would be kinda cool. Like work on that fire bit a little more and you can create thermal plumes to ride and go explore new areas. The throwing mechanic could have been used like the Half Life 2 seesaw puzzle where you could have tipped over the entire box of cereal to have a huge feast for the ants. Lots of possibilities to explore here as I think this concept has potential to be a full, buyable game at some point.
