In the Darkness of the Sea is not really a game, it's "art" masquerading as a game. This non-game has you looking at a low-fi blob in a boat in a dark, monochrome 2D environment. There's no graphics tweaks or ways to improve the lacklustre visual quality, but this should be no surprise because this is not game, it's an art installation. It's telling when an "artist" has failed so badly that local art galleries took out restraining orders, and they're forced to pay $100 USD to self-publish garbage like this on Steam. Games can be art, don't get me wrong. Games like Death Stranding, Life Is Strange and Red Dead Redemption 2 tell amazing stories through the medium of video gaming, the quality and gamer experience are so high that the games surpass themselves to the point they really are art, much like exceptionally well made movies become more than a 2 hour popcorn fest and really are considered art. But dumping some lazy crap on Steam, insisting it's a game and therefore it's brilliant art is frankly insulting. This is not making art better, it's making video games worse. Because this is not a game, I cannot recommend it to gamers. If you want art, go visit a local art gallery, where actual, talented artists will have real works of art on display... and you won't be forced to deal with garbage from failed artists who needed to pay Valve to self publish while polluting Steam with things that aren't games.

A brief, captivating experience that explains very little about its simple mechanics, forcing you to experiment with 3-key controls in order to survive the ride. Really great concept, worth your time, could be polished and expanded a bit more, but overall very enjoyable. Would love to play a VR game with a similar concept someday.
You dodge whales and fish, that's it. Even then the collision detection with the whales is awful. I found it more annoying than intriguing.
Lovely game.
Great atmosphere and music!
