Simple, but super useful small app. Since it is very flexible I use it for all my stuff - from task management, describing ideas, writing myself reminders even for storing data from user reviews and forums I check. It's basically mini-wordpad & excel with small amount of automation, tree structure and stats. So I suppose the purposes for what you can use it is really vast. Totally awesome.
I'm still messing around with this software. Honestly, it feels a lot like working with database software (think like.. LibreOffice Base, or Microsoft Access) but with a different interface. There are some things going on here that I don't quite think a database could pull off though without an external program, like the Colours option type for attributes. Other than that it's pretty bare and offers no prebuilt templates, which I know some folks need. But I think the flexibility the program offers is great; I can finally write about my xenobiology without worrying that I'm not going to have anywhere appropriate to put the information. I could probably even conlang with this. Mainly I'm struggling to come up with templates for my Blueprints, but I think that's because I don't work in this format often. I usually just dump things in .txt files that I lose everywhere on my PC, from my desktop to 20,000 folders scattered around Home, Documents and WRITING. Or I just never write it down because my brain is also a badly organized vault for my worldbuilding info. So finally feeling like I can write ♥♥♥♥ and not lose it? It's great. There are some things that bug me, thus I'll have to come up with a suggestion list later on the forums. But overall I think this is a promising project; it just needs more love and support. I can't thank the devs enough for putting this together, and all the supporters who got here before I did to cheer them on.

Once you get the hang of it, it's a simple yet powerful tool. You can create full-fledged articles about events, places, characters with references to each other using the built-in features. Well done, looking forward for what's to come.
Very good so far, but you don't seem to be able to name attributes while creating them. You have to create them, defining their type and whether or not they're a list, but there's no visible way to name it before hitting OK, selecting it in the list and hitting F2, then typing a name for it. If naming attributes wasn't a necessity, this would make more sense.
I've been using this program to run a DND campaign for a couple months now and found it to be very useful. It could certainly use some polishing but in ~70 hours I've yet to experience anything too terrible. Copy/Pasting text from outside the program sometimes screws up formatting, and there isn't any ability to cross-reference entries. Other than that, this program has helped keep track of quests, NPCS and plot events effectively.
awesome
Is less than an hour of testing enough to judge this software? Well, I've worked with other world building tools like manuskript, yWriter, WorldAnvil and LibreOffice calc spreadsheets... and my answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. Ikarus is NOT focused in story telling, so it work more like a database builder rather than a "story planner". The blueprint & instances system is so simple and yet so amazingly effective for organizing information. For me, this could become the replacement for my LibreOffice spreadsheets, as Ikarus saves me lots of time and effort. However, the software is VERY simple and still in early access, so don't expect to see a fancy UI, export options or even images... it's basically a worldbuilding database maker, a simple and powerful one. Really hoping to see what this software will be able do in the future.
Despite seemingly being abandonware (last update was 5 years ago), it's still a very powerful and flexible tool. I recently switched to it and use it to organize and keep track of NPC's and the general timeline in my dnd campaign because I was loking for something simple that I can organize in any way I need it. It's very bare bones, no fluff no nothing, but it's not like they're trying to pretend otherwise. The screenshots on the store page are pretty much exactly what you get: a no frills organisational tool. With that however come some issues. My biggest pet peeve is that a multiple choice selection can't trigger another multiple choice selection. For example: One of my NPC's is a Wizard and making a dropdown menu to pick a class is riddiculously easy. It genuinely took me less than 2 minutes. But after choosing the Class, I would love to be able to link another dropdown choice specific to that Class to select subclasses but I either can't do that or I have yet to figure out how.
Cons:
- Abandoned by the devs - Awkward to use at first - Roundabout solutions for obvious problems - No pictures, despite not being web based
Pros:
- Highly Flexible - Not bound to premade categories - As smart as you make it - shallow learning curve - Clean Interface - Incredible Blueprint System Overall, I can't help but recommend it, despite being abandonware. It has no creature comforts but it does exactly what you want ot to do.
