nice
Might've been actually enjoyable if it didn't have such predatory game design, and the worst part of the game isn't even that. It's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ save function. You regularly lose a ton of progress cause the game just doesn't seem to save on exit. Which would be fine, if there was an option to manually save, but that doesn't exist either. Was playing this yesterday night and managed to get some legendary monsters, upon startup today it seems these have all disappeared from my game and I have been set back many waves. Do yourself a favour and don't bother until this gets fixed. (Likely never as the last update was in 2023)

Technically speaking, the gameplay is fine for the most part. However this is pretty much just a rather low quality port of the pre existing mobile game. It would've been better to have the game as a mobile game, and not bring it to steam too. Lots of money you need to spend to make quicker progress, and I have had a couple different bugs since I started the steam version where I just straight up lose days of progress because the game refuses to save.
Not tower game just pay-to-win
This is the simple story for new player, you leading a monster kingdom to defense evil human robot army, kind of reverse the typical story that other mmo. For the biggest problem in this game are limit the tower, greedy developer just want money and not a enjoyable tower game, you need to pay-to-win, only money so you could got more monster tower, there only cash that this game care about. Over-roll the idea to developer your monster team are nice idea, but by using the pay-to-win element to got new defense tower are not a nice idea for new player.
Strongly don't recommend this game for steam achievements' hunter, players who want to get everything in game before finish the game
If you're just looking for idle game just to pass some time, you can try it out as it's free and most of the fun part is in early game progression. Better alternative game is "Idle Monster TD: Evolved" which is sequel of this game with same devs team (just different publisher and studio name?) A lot of flaw can be seen in this game which mostly affect players at mid to end game plus any inconvenience or bug you encountered during game play WON'T be fixed as devs already abandon this project and move to "Idle Monster TD: Evolved" The notable flaw include game has its own auto save interval and won't save one more time when you close the game (about 10 minutes between each save I think)+ no manual auto save. So if players "prestige" and upgrade or place new tower in new map after prestige and then suddenly quit game, the game won't save those progress and start with your before prestige progress when you come back next day. some people suggested press esc button to quit and game might be forced to saved once more but it never work in my case. Another notable flaw for me is you can't have multiple set of ability set to swap between different situation and maps. players can only manually swap each of ability slots (4 in total). In late game, players is "technically" forced to change 3 out of 4 slots to use it in quick event map (challenge map) to get "challenge point" for upgrade late game thing. And then swap all 3 slots back to your origin abilities to use it in normal map. You need to this swapping thing more than 50+ or 100+ times maybe and you can't spam play challenge mode map in one go as it only replenish every once in awhile up to max 3 times. A lot of improvement and progress can be seen in early and mid game. You get new towers replace old one. Each upgrade affect the game. Once you hit stage 2500+, there is no more excitement or any smart move. you mostly grind for money multiplier upgrade to oblivion + do 15+ ascension on 2 of your main dps monster towers, do more challenge maps maybe. It's just grinding to achievement named "reach wave 4000" at this point which is very very time consumed (My play time is 3544.4 hrs mostly in background about 2 years maybe just for last 2 achievements). <<This is the number one reason why achievement hunter should avoid this game at all cost Also you will notice later in game that higher and lower tier monster only have their number stats changed to be higher. Their skill are copy-paste from the lower tier mostly. So this narrow the tactic types down a lot. But I do like those 8 "special" support monster idea tho. only 8 of them have unique skill and is the main discussion in end game tower set up. The art of the game is indeed nice, there are 3 tower placement sets for each different maps which is very good. You can disable attack animation and disable dmg number and some effect which is good for cpu and gpu usage during afk:) Enemy is mostly copy-paste too during end game but which much highers hp. In conclusion, not recommended. Play for fun at most but don't expect to play in long term. Pls see Idle Monster TD: Evolved if you want to try better version and still active update maybe:)

Idle Monster TD is a highly addictive combination of tower defense strategy and idle progression that manages to deliver far more depth than its simple presentation initially suggests. What starts as a fairly straightforward defense game about placing monster towers against incoming enemy waves slowly evolves into a complex system of elemental synergy, monster evolution, endless upgrades, and long-term optimization. The game succeeds because it balances passive progression with enough strategic decision-making to keep players constantly experimenting and refining their builds rather than simply watching numbers increase automatically. The central gameplay revolves around summoning monsters to defend against endless waves of invading enemies. Each monster acts as a specialized tower with unique attack styles, passive abilities, and elemental properties that influence combat effectiveness. Some monsters excel at rapid damage output, others provide crowd control, economic bonuses, or support effects that strengthen nearby allies. Building a powerful defensive lineup quickly becomes more strategic than simply placing the strongest units available because positioning and synergy play an enormous role in long-term success. One of the game’s strongest qualities is the large variety of monsters available. Unlocking new creatures consistently feels rewarding because each addition introduces fresh tactical possibilities and different combinations to experiment with. Certain monsters perform best when paired with complementary elemental units, while others become powerful support towers capable of dramatically increasing overall efficiency. The game encourages players to constantly adjust strategies instead of relying on a single setup forever, which helps keep progression engaging over long sessions. The progression systems are easily the most addictive part of the experience. Players constantly earn resources used to improve monsters, unlock permanent upgrades, evolve units, research technologies, and strengthen overall progression efficiency. Every completed stage and every new upgrade creates a satisfying sense of advancement that fuels the game’s endless gameplay loop. The pacing during the early and middle stages feels especially rewarding because improvements are frequent and immediately noticeable. Monster evolution systems add another layer of depth by allowing units to transform into significantly stronger versions over time. Instead of replacing weaker towers permanently, players can continue investing into favorite monsters and turn them into extremely powerful late-game units. This mechanic gives progression more flexibility while also encouraging experimentation with different team compositions and upgrade paths. The elemental system also contributes heavily to the strategic depth. Fire, water, air, earth, and other elemental alignments interact through buffs, debuffs, and damage amplification effects that become increasingly important during higher-level stages. Creating effective elemental combinations becomes essential for surviving more difficult content, and the game rewards players who carefully build teams around synergy rather than raw damage alone. Maps and enemy variety help prevent the gameplay from becoming completely repetitive. Different stages introduce unique layouts, enemy behaviors, and tactical challenges that force players to rethink positioning and team composition. Boss encounters especially require more careful planning because certain enemy abilities can completely overwhelm poorly balanced defenses. The increasing difficulty curve creates a satisfying sense of progression where every new milestone feels earned. One of the most impressive aspects of Idle Monster TD is how effectively it combines active and passive gameplay. The game can progress automatically while players are away, but active management dramatically improves efficiency and advancement speed. Upgrading monsters, adjusting formations, optimizing synergies, and triggering abilities all give players meaningful ways to stay involved. This balance allows the game to satisfy both casual idle players and those who enjoy deeper optimization systems. The amount of content available is also substantial. Between endless progression loops, challenge maps, tournaments, achievements, prestige systems, and constant upgrade paths, the game provides a huge amount of long-term progression for players willing to invest time into mastering its mechanics. There is always another milestone to chase or stronger build to develop, which helps maintain engagement even after dozens of hours. Visually, the game uses a colorful fantasy-inspired art style filled with lively spell effects, expressive monster designs, and constant battlefield activity. The graphics are simple but effective, providing enough visual feedback to make upgrades and evolutions feel impactful without overwhelming the screen during larger battles. However, the game does suffer from several common problems associated with idle titles. Progression slows dramatically during later stages, eventually becoming much more grind-heavy than during the opening hours. Certain upgrades require extensive farming and long waiting periods, which may frustrate players looking for faster pacing or more immediate rewards. Balance issues occasionally appear as well. Some monster combinations and progression paths feel significantly stronger than others, reducing strategic variety for players focused heavily on efficiency. The game’s monetization systems and premium progression incentives may also discourage some players who prefer entirely balanced free progression structures. The sheer number of mechanics can also feel overwhelming for newcomers. Multiple currencies, upgrade layers, evolution systems, prestige mechanics, and research trees are introduced gradually, but the amount of information eventually becomes quite large. Players unfamiliar with complex incremental games may initially struggle to understand the full depth of the systems involved. Despite these flaws, Idle Monster TD succeeds because it understands how to make long-term progression consistently satisfying. Every unlocked monster, upgraded ability, and evolved tower contributes to a rewarding sense of growth that keeps players invested. The strategic depth hidden beneath the idle mechanics gives the game far more longevity than many simpler incremental titles. What ultimately makes the game stand out is how naturally the idle and tower defense genres complement one another. The automatic progression systems support the long-term optimization focus perfectly, while the strategic monster synergies ensure players remain mentally engaged instead of becoming passive observers. Idle Monster TD is an excellent blend of idle progression and tower defense strategy that offers rewarding long-term gameplay through monster collection, endless upgrades, and strategic experimentation. While the grind-heavy later stages and overwhelming number of systems may not appeal to everyone, players who enjoy optimization-focused progression and incremental strategy games will likely find themselves completely absorbed by its addictive gameplay loop.
