I did like this game; however, I feel compelled to not recommend or endorse it for others, unless its on sale for a really good price, you want to entertain younger kids with a family friendly title. The gameplay takes a little getting used to, I highly recommend keyboard and mouse for this one. The puzzles are also really good and well thought out so props for that. The unique impa minions you control is also a cool feature, switching between them to perform certain tasks to help you progress. Having said that, the timer element although I understand it, I think could have been handled differently instead of putting you back to the main menu every time. The lack of actual cutscenes is a small gripe but nonetheless would have been a lot better. Being able to play as either Drac or Mavis gives you unique voice lines for that character however when you need to go back and for in certain areas the same line of dialogue activates, yes I know that smell Franky must be close by, or the sandwiches joke, or who built these, the list, believe me there's a few. They are great don't get me wrong and made me chuckle the first and second times, after that well I feel either more variety is needed or mix them up a bit or just have it activate every so often. Also, back tracking and trying to find treasures and or pathways can lead to frustration as there is no map or guide except the one in the menu, so you don't have a clear direction of have I been here, have I done that making it easy to retrace your steps over and over. The impas themselves let's say you have 3 out of the 4 available impas to use with 5 of each, you see a crab or some other enemy, and you only select the oner group to attack it, too many times have I lost impas because they all decide to rush as the enemy has gotten close and there is no way to pull them off before they get killed, this in tandem with the mouse moving the camera was really annoying. As far as I know there is no recall all button......but there should be. Another issue is when you get a large amount of impas and especially near the end, and you traverse bridges etc that some fall off the edge or into the water, so unless you walk slowly in a straight line you will likely lose some impas. The final boss was also interesting to start but compared to the others lackluster when you know what to do allowing me to beat him in mere second's, this boss should have had more varied and interesting attacks like the ones found leading up to it which if you know how to do it quickly mean the little ones are far more challenging. Next, we have the bugged achievement that's a wrap which prevents you from getting the bleh bleh bleh one for completing and doing everything in the game, so if you wanted this cool little titled achievement then unless the gaming gods smile upon you or you know the developers respond to feedback and fix this, then you will have to do what I did and create a new game and just speed-run to the third island which is a pain so that's a minus. Overall not a bad movie/game tie-in with some great game-play, varied enemy types, interesting bosses, and cool puzzles all based around the movie, alas the list of negatives mentioned means I can't recommend unless for the reasons in the first paragraph.

The only reason why I bought this game was because it was my Pikmin 4 before Pikmin 4 came out (it was also on sale). And then I decided to complete all the achievements since I thought it would be funny. Put simply, it was not. Honestly, I do not recommend this game to anyone. Every aspect of this game is subpar, then taken to the uneventful extreme—especially with the final boss. I despise Impas with my entire heart; I have since realized how much I miss my endearing and superior Pikmin. Do not bother with this game.

Shameless rip of games like Pikmin and Overlord with a Hotel Transylvania theme. - Visual design is below passable, but not eye melting. The characters are particularly bad, while the island creatures look decent. - Way too expensive for what it is. -/+ Unoriginal gameplay that could be forgiven if it were smoother. Still functions, though. -/+ Voice lines that are awful to listen to, but you get the vibe the writer and the actors were going for. If you liked the god-awful movie voices, these are about the same level of quality. + Music is ok. Some Halloween and island vibes, as expected. I love minion management games, but I do not recommend this game for most players. If you do not LOVE the genre, do not buy. Even if you do, Overlord is fantastic. Play that instead, then come back once the minion withdrawal sets in.
