Hooptown Hero

Game becomes unplayably hard on the second level, with AI teammates that do next to nothing. Controls are obtuse and not explained well, if at all. Progression is confusing and, again, not explained at all.

genuinely just a skill issue for the haters. i'm not even that great at it myself, but on a good day i get a deep run in and it's awesome. not because of any high rolling, it's just hitting greens or getting good passes and layups in.

The game is fun until you get in EVERY run a team (between 3rd and 4th game) that makes Steph Curry look like a noob, and they get you seven or eight three pointers in a row from half court, and doesn't matter if they are contested or not, they just go in. I'm refunding it by now, please let me know if this gets fixed.

Cursed Basketball

i have never felt even once in control of the outcome of a game. i would at the very least be more willing to accept what this game was going for if your hp reset each game, since its practically unavoidable to lose any hp and then you just get attritioned by the following games or have to choose healing and miss out on actual rewards that would let you scale. also passing is absolutely op in a game where your ai teammates have no idea what cutting a pass is. also the friendly ai regularly bugs out and just stops moving all together

For about a dollar per hour of playtime (even better when on sale), this game certainly gains a positive review from myself. It is a fun take on the sports game genre. I found myself both having a great and infuriating time with it. The "boss" levels are honestly just a giant pain in the ass to play, because you can play a perfect game and the odds are that you will be comprehensively beaten. I think there is a better difficulty progression to be found... I think the unique take on a basketball game is reason enough to give it a go, especially if you like the roguelike element. Overall, if you enjoy basketball games, I think you'll have a bit of fun with this but do expect to be frustrated from time to time. However, I think that stands for all sports games.

It's fun, janky, and a good use of a few bucks. I really don't know how i found this game but it was good to go back to at the end of a workday for a few hours. I would recommend!
