To be honest $15 is a little too much but I'm sure it can be had for less during a sale. It took me just over 2 hours to beat. The game includes a skill point system that I quite enjoyed. You can change where your skill points were at anytime which allows you to experiment and adjust according to your situation. The Music is also amazing, i just wished it always played. It only plays when the character is being tracked by enemies (I think?) and the moments when it stops feel empty. The game has problems, not to say it isn't fun, but they are definitely there. Within my first level i found a glitch involving the save function that allowed me to pick up multiple skill points (you can pick them up in secret areas). I chose not abuse it and by the end of the game i had around 10. The gun balance is definitely off, the starting pistol is the second highest dps weapon just behind the mini-gun. As a result barely used the shotgun and double barrel. Also if you do a +6 to firearm damage the minigun for some reason starts doing base damage? Not sure if just visual glitch but regardless i recommend leaving gun damage at a +5 max. As for the graphics, the game seems to use a post processing function to blur everything to give it that retro look. I really don't like this method as it both hurts your eyes after a while (after about an hour or so) and is quite demanding on your hardware. (my two cents to the devs) I would recommend simply running the game at a lower internal resolution instead of post processing. It would make it so lower end hardware can play it. I have a 6900xt and I could barely run it at 4k 120hz. This game is currently harder to run than Insurgency Sandstorm. I'm also a Linux user and I'm using proton run it, so i think its a shame that someone with a steam deck probably can't play it. TLDR: The game is fun. music is great, has bugs, demanding and you can't play it for a long time. I still recommend it but not for $15.

Bit past an hour in, loving it! There are a ton of secrets to find, keeping me on my toes and excited to explore nooks and crannies. Along with that, there are also a ton of fun pop culture references that I just have fun finding and identifying. The gameplay is fun, the character upgrade menu is a very nice mechanic, along with the save system. I do have a bit of complaints with the enemies. I have one for each type of enemy I've seen so far but I think they are also easy fixes and not all are necessarily needed to be worked on, mostly just the ranged enemies I have issue with. For the ones that use projectiles, such as the fireball throwing demon that is introduced in the first level, he tracks me too well to the point that my evasiveness and strafing isnt rewarded and I'm hit anyways. For this, I suggest having their tracking lag behind a little bit, I believe this is called smoothing but I may be wrong. I feel it would make the enemies feel just a tad bit more realistic and it would reward evasiveness and make the combat with said projectile enemies more reasonable. Then for ranged enemies that use hitscan, hitscan is just really hard to tell what to avoid and its kinda just an "oops you're hit" type of thing as I see it. I don't exactly know an easy solution to this, but I think either adding some sort of laser or other type of indicator to signal a hitscan attack's threat visually, even if just for a second (keeping it hard but giving SOME time to react very quickly) , I think that would make them a lot nicer to deal with. Other than that, idk all I can think of is making them projectile enemies lol (but considering they dont do too much damage at least with how far in I am now, it isn't too big of an issue) Then lastly with melee enemies, basically if any enemy that uses melee outspeeds you, you are kinda at their mercy. I know there is the movement speed option in the character upgrade menu, but it isn't worth it and doesn't really upgrade speed much as far as I can tell. My suggestion for this is to add a quick sprint ability that allows a juke, weave, or ankle break. I don't think much more is needed than like a ~5 second stamina bar that maybe doubles player speed then recharges after 15 seconds. You can do the balancing yourself but I think it would round out the game nice. I KNOW THAT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF COMPLAINING but I just want to get my criticism across. Overall, I love this game so far. It is very charming and fun and overall an enjoyable experience. Despite these problems, I have not once become stuck or frustrated yet, and I've had a blast exploring the wonderfully designed levels, being surprised by new enemy types, and seeing what this lovely game has planned for me next. OH AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS PHENOMINAL!!! I love everytime the music comes on, especially when its for one of the lil spider guys I find it very fun GREAT GAME! I recommend :] EDIT: New Review after playing it now I found the lil arcade machine, and having another go at it, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is good. I remembered the levels and its layout, which is amazing level design, and so much work went into every aspect. I can TELL this game has been updated and I can't see these issues above much at all anymore. Obviously there are always going to be little things here and there, but this is an amazing game overflowing with passion I can't wait to see what you make next, very funmax
This game is absolute garbage. There is nothing here that is reminiscent of n64 shooters at all. Shooters of that era didn't lock your character's movement speed behind a poorly implemented rpg upgrade system. They also didn't have Halo style regenerating health. I can see why they put regenerating health in- its because the game would be impossible without it. Enemies are dumb as rocks and most just continuously run toward you until they are inside you. Others just fire projectiles at you from afar. That's their only two strategies. With the game starting you out as slow as a snail with arthritis, it's hard to avoid attacks and get away from enemies. So, you'll take a lot of cheap deaths. This may be the worst first person shooter I've ever played. Honestly, Daikatana is better than this. Yes, even the n64 version. Avoid this game at all cost. The only nostalgia you'll be feeling is for the time before you wasted your money on this terrible game.
