About

Trapped in the misty sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido, you awaken to whispers of an ancient cult and their unholy rite. As the veil between worlds begins to fray, explore, solve puzzles, and escape - before you become part of the ritual.

In a mist-shrouded village of Galicia, ancient shadows stir as whispers of A Irmandade da Compaña echo once more. Long thought lost to time, the cult of the dead has resurfaced, gathering in the sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido to summon something evil. Their ritual nears completion, and with it, the boundary between the living and the dead begins to fray. The ritual remains incomplete, for only a witch can seal the final act of summoning. Until today, they had none. But that is about to change.
You wake in darkness, the air thick with an eerie presence. Something stirs - something that should have remained buried.

Hellkind is a short and immersive experience inspired by the folklore and atmosphere of Galicia and Spain - blends exploration, light puzzle solving, all set against a backdrop of ancient religious rituals and forbidden knowledge. As players navigate the eerie sanctuary and its shadowed corners, they will feel the weight of claustrophobic tension, with unseen horrors lurking just beyond the veil of reality.
With its forgotten cults, spectral processions, and the ever-present temptation of religion, the game weaves elements of supernatural horror and mystery into a chilling experience. Every step feels like a step toward salvation, pushing them closer to unraveling the cult’s dark intentions.

"Hellkind" is a short simple horror adventure game themed about european historical cults and featuring gameplay even less interesting than joining a cult would be. It's an experimental experience from mobile developers who don't understand what good PC gaming is. What do you do in the game? You wander around an old church thing and collect a few things to conduct a ritual with a top down view of what's supposed to be a spooky scary horror environment but really just looks laughably bad to anyone who owns a modern 3D graphics card.... the low res, low poly, mostly 2D views just look junk compared to contemporary video games. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 30 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 15 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

Muy lento para lo que es
I love art direction that makes good use of dithering, which may be controversial, but apart from that Hellkind is not incredibly effective at what it's doing either in terms of either its horror, or even just its basic mechanics.
Great little game! The atmosphere is creepy and the story that you pick up just from looking around is a nice touch. I love the graphic style, it keeps things minimal without taking away from the experience. Highly recommend.
- won't let you change resolution (low, medium, high ... what is this?) - won't let you disable fullscreen (no borderless)
